Literally everyhing Dio does is highly symbolic. As for figuring out the symbolism, there's lots and lots of valid theories but Dio was so incredibly cryptic that we'll never fully get what he was trying to say. Pieces and be firgured out, but figuring it all out would make you lose your mind

Most of Dio's songs are basically encapsulated comic books he created for himself. Holy Diver is about a Messiah in another world who follows the hero's path in a way similar to Jesus. Dio was never afraid to explain his lyrics when asked.
@lordmortarius5382 жыл бұрын
The story also goes on to explain that those he saved are afraid to lose him and don't want him to save anyone else so they try to keep him there.

Always love to see you discovering 80s rock/metal! Ronnie James Dio sang as a solo act, leading the band Rainbow, and as lead singer for Black Sabbath for a stretch. He is a highly revered vocalist, and despite being of very short stature, he commanded the biggest of stages! But the most important thing to know about Dio, is that he was an absolute sweetheart of a man...always had time for his fans and friends alike.

Dio was a rare talent and he managed to always surround himself with talented musicians. Many well known names like Richie Blackmore and Tony Iommi played with him, but there were so many more guys that should've been icons but took a backseat in order to support Dio thru the years. Also, from the interviews I have seen he was beloved by not just his fans, but all the big name musicians he met along the way. You see biopics all the time where musicians praise another guy's writing or performances, but with Dio you often heard them speak on the influence he had on them off-stage as well.

At this point, Dio had been working since 1957 (he started out at 15), so he'd just about perfected how he wanted to sound, and was always trying new things when he got on stage. This (Dio) was also the 10th band he'd been in (counting name & minor personnel changes). BTW- Murray & a large dragon both were part of his mid-eighties stage show.

Holy Diver of course is a must hear for everyone, but to see and hear Dio performing something completely different, you absolutely should watch him doing "Sitting In a Dream" with Deep Purple and London Symphony Orchestra.
