So much talent, yeah the "glam" image thing looking back got out of hand maybe, but in those days we didn't really care cause that was where the evolution of hard rock was going at that time. But, Randy Rhoads made me want to play, but it was guys' like: Vivian, Jake, George, Mick, Vito, Becker, Gilbert, Nuno, Kendall, Collen, Clark, Smith/Murray that inspired me to keep working at learning the guitar.

I never got to see Dio. It's one of my bigger regrets. I've seen Maiden 3x their shows are events and always so so good. I actually cried tears of joy the 2nd time i saw them as it was 24 years nearly to the day after my first show in 87. I imagine Dio's shows feel different. I saw ozzy in 88? No rest for the wicked tour anyway. We were about as far away from the stage as you can get. I mean like nose, eyes & ears bleeding section. But. I could feel his energy. I have seen a whole lot of shows and I've never ever felt anything like that before or since. I can still remember how it felt. It was almost like magic. Literally I could feel his energy. I always imagined a Dio show might evoke the same feeling. He was a small dude but you didnt see him as small. he had so much power in his voice and a commanding stage presence that made him seem like a giant.. I wish I could have seen him live. His music got me through some real rough times and I would have loved to been able to expierience live, the music& the artist that was my security blanket, wise friend, entertainer, sea captain and constant companion. It was his answer to the "We are the world"group. It was the metal communities way to help world hunger and peace. You had some of the best vocalist of that time. Dio, Rob Halford, Geoff Tate, Don Dokken and others. Also multiple guitarist. It even had about a 7 minute guitar solo. It was called Hear'n Aid and the song was We're Stars.

This is all Dio though, not the fakery of many of todays artists, Dio was the real deal and often sounded even better live than on the album, i have witnessed it in person.

The brand he shows with his fingers is "The Devil" The brand that he himself, Dio" by the way, started with.

Oh Well done Mags! Funny how back in the day, metal were looked down upon my opera, but so many like Dio, too those skills in completely unexpected territory. ART vs Dogma in my opinion. I am so happy you did this one dear ♥

Do you know Elizabeth Zharoff? Listen to how she picks his voice and technique. Listen to the Gates of Babylon by Rainbow and you'll really hear his mastery. He was one of the best.

That rock symbol that dio does is called the MALOYK, the EVIL EYE. HIS grandmother taught him that, listen to RAINBOW, MAN ON THE SILVER MOUNTAIN.

RJD is Power. his vocals are truly incredible Interesting fact, that "rock sign" you mentioned @ 6:54 originated from rjd, actually his grandmother. according to rjd his grandmother was highly superstitious and that "rock sign" with the pointing and pinky finger pointing up (palms out) is supposed to block evil curses and if you point it at another person then you are sending them an evil curse. RJD was the first to flash it in concert and it just took off

Dio was a force of nature!! Unbelievable voice that can never be replicated, I don’t care what you say. There will never be another RJD. Just like Steve Perry.

Sure you do realize he is singing a concert that last a good 1 1/2-3hours. No clue at this point in the concert this song came in, but as great as he is Live you do need to here the studio version too. It's in my Workout playlist.. Edit. Go listen to Lilac. They do a great cover of this
