I just moved from Seattle to Cairo, IL figuring I was trading one defunct shithole for another. You'd think with the race riots, floods, and degradation of the community(Cairo, not Seattle, hard to tell these days tho), it'd never bounce back. As it died, they finally decided to demolish the low income housing. And like some kind of miracle, businesses are starting to come back, crime is down. A new port is being built up early next year. Not sure affordable housing is the answer you're seeking... but what you guys got isn't working, either.

I was in LA last year and I couldnt tell if I was in a good neighborhood or a bad one most of the time . Homelessness looked extreme. There was so much rubbish even then when this news station is claiming it was being cleaned. They need to take better care of people there it's ridiculous the extravagance of LA and yet there were homeless mini tent towns.

And no money . What would all their precious belongings look like . How far would they be able to move it ,alone. Would give up and die. Or would they survive ,would they beg for help. Terran William's. Here near Seattle my husband fed homeless on Sundays for several years. So many of these people do not want indoors. That's one reason they flood the west coast. There needs to be treatment centers for those willing and able to recover whatever and help getting on their feet and institutions for the MANY who have fried their brains on meth or have serious mental problems from abuse and neglect. Its complicated but there is also alot of help out there for those who will take it to better their situation. Many just don't want the help, just a buck for drugs ect. You don't see many families.

How are you going to get homeless men (mostly) living in tents on the sidewalk to clean up after themselves? Even if they wanted to, where are the dumpsters? Where are the bathrooms? The running water? The supplies for cleaning? The city invited destitute people to live on the sidewalks - the city should clean it up because this certainly is not the taxpayers job to get out there and do the cleaning themselves.

Homelessness doesn't mean a departure from personal and environmental cleanliness. We our not homeless currently, but we tend to create far less waste than most - without regard to political affiliation. Just do with less and have less to get rid of. I think we would all do better to depend on less.
