I think five iconic creatures might refer to the 5 iconic creature types. Dragon, Angel, Sphinx, Hydra and Demon. Edit:guys. Goblins, elves, merfolks/wizards, humans and zombies are not iconic types. They're representative types. Iconic types specifically refer to types found in high rarity high cost bombs. These other creatures that are found in all rarities and are lower cost on average are the representative types.

@@Triforceog kraken is a pretty common iconic type but merfolk is not an iconic type. Merfolks are a representative type. Iconic types are reserved for high cost high rarity bomb cards. The five common representative types are: Goblins Merfolks Humans Elves Zombies

Iconic means the special creatures that incarnate their colors. White - Angels. Blue - Sphinxes. Black - Demons. Red - Dragons. Green - Hydras. So there will be different card for Angels, Spjhinx and so on.

Hyena's aren't dogs. They are their own thing, closer related to cats than dogs I guess. They also have a female based social structure, where the oldest matron is at the top and her daughters are bellow her. Then all males are at the bottom of the pecking order. It's almost akin to Drow society in D&D.

1. the +10/+10 might be a reprint of, or a new variant of, Vivien. 2. "A deck can have any number of cards named" could be a reprint? 3. the players invitational winner card might be meddling mage. specifically to shut down decks using the "any number of" card. but I could be wrong. pretty sure its not a reprint of Faerie Mastermind though. 4. the 5 iconic creature types bit will either be "Dragon, Demon, Angel, Kraken, Hydra", "Goblin, Merfolk, Elf, Vampire (or Zombie), Human", or will be more about the unique to MTG ones like Eldrazi, Phyrexian, Sliver, Myr, etc. Not sure which, don't quote me on it. Lastly, not really related but just something I'm curious about. What are some old, maybe one-off, mechanics you'd love to see brought back with a legendary that "cares" about them? Personally I'd love to see Trap instants brought back. maybe a commander in Temur or Sultai who draws a card whenever you cast a trap and has some other effects that go off on the first, second, and third spells you cast during another players turn. Could be a lot of fun. Not really spell slinger so much as control and value.

I think the 5 face Planeswalkers of Foundations should've been the Lorwyn 5 or entirely new blood. Going half-measure by keeping 3/5 of the Lorwyn 5 is a disservice to the characters and they're just there as money chasers. An example of new blood could've been: Teyo (White) Kaito (Blue) Davriel (Black) Koth? (Red)* Vivien (Green) (WotC really doesn't like printing Red Planeswalkers outside of Chandra.) But if they went with the full Lorwyn 5, we could've gotten more rep for Garruk, who was unjustly shelved.

Dude - 5 iconic creatures just means elf, zombie, goblin, merfolk, and angels. Those are the iconic creatures. Not a specific legendary.

Maybe this is too obvious, but "target instant or sorcery gains flashback until end of turn" is the text on snapcaster mage, a magic invitational card. However, im not sure if they would consider that the most powerful one

5 Iconic Creatures?! My first thought was the Planeswalkers into creatures as they have already for a few of them - but the iconic ones as shown on the box seems like Lily, Chandra, and so forth... which I feel that would be a great way to display Planeswalkers because their powers are so too great to be placed in 1 card Just imagine, a Leg Lily Necro/warlock Human; 3/4 with deathtouch and some raise dead or turn into zombie abilities

Hyenas are NOT dogs at all. They are part of hyeanidae, which are their own separate thing, (their closest relatives are mongoose). Should be noted they are technically feliform carnivores making them closer to cats then dogs.

I can’t be the only one wishing these spoilers would come out in like three months from now. I feel like duskmourn just dropped. And I haven’t really gotten a chance to play with it. Now we’re already on the next set? It’s just too much to keep up with at this point. Also Ward is a bad mechanic, fight me in a parking lot about it. Having to pay just to interact with something is just about as feels bad as having your first spell countered. Erayo is banned for a reason. Ward turns decent spot removal into an 8 mana spell that takes your entire turn and basically time walks you. Ward for life is one thing, but discarding and paying mana for ward costs is horrible. Ward is the only version of stax they print anymore. And they staple it to every damn legend. I’ve been at tables where every commander has ward, and none of them could be removed because of the sheer tempo loss it would have taken to deal with the commanders. So the four of us just played solitaire. Ward as a mechanic fundamentally dissuades interaction between players. That’s the opposite of what I play magic for. If I just wanted my deck to “do its thing” and nothing else, I would play Pokémon. You’re not allowed to play cards when it’s not your turn in Pokémon. Literally zero real time interaction. If every card has ward. Protection spells become obsolete because it’s now redundant. You would be wasting slots. Stapling stax abilities to every other legend is a bad idea.

These that I've listed are what you'll usually see alot of, and as far as green goes I can at least speak on the Elves being quite Iconic throughout MTG history.

@@martialartsfan Elves are the representative green creature type. That means that there are tons of green elves at common and uncommon rarity. Hydras are the Iconic green creature type. That means that there are a lot of really powerful hydras at rare and mythic rarity. They are both iconic by the normal definition, but in this case MaRo is using a specific definition. Iconic types are specifically powerful rare cards, while representative types are less powerful common cards.

Later, had him live and casually a Phyrexian type would pop up. A story; that a creature was desperate to not die and become Phyrexian. "Ward 4" or "Ward 8" is better than hexproof since there are a number of cards that prevent your permanents from having hexproof! I only know of 1 that removes Ward and it is brand new! "Nowhere to Run"
