This interview is a clear illustration why Magic is as successful as he is! He talks about others more than himself. He passes the praise around. Indeed a point guard off the court. I LOVE Magic's interviews. When he talks about stuff that happened back in the day, he speaks about it as if it happened yesterday. He's still amazed about those Dr J moves. He still has so much love and admiration for Dr J, Kareem, and Bird. You can't help but to be fully engaged as he speaks. I've also heard stories of Magic approaching fans before fans even have a chance to speak to him, and holding whole convos with perfect strangers. I've never idolized any athlete even in my youth, but Magic was the reason I've been a Lakers fan for 40 years.

I remember visiting one of the Friday restaurants that Magic owned here in L.A. in the early 2000’s to have food and drinks with friends and watch a Laker playoff game. There was a reserved table courted off which our party was allowed to sit at as we were told that the party for that table was no longer coming. Well after placing our order we were then asked to move as that person was now definitely coming and that this person needed the space. Long story short Magic and a few of his people walk in and the place went absolutely nuts! Magic saw us being moved in an jam packed restaurant which now was standing room only and told the waitress to stop what she was doing and had us all sit back down. He pulled up a chair and sat right next to me and shook my hand. No ego or pretentiousness. I grew up in L.A. so I already had a deep respect for the Lakers and Magic but after that interaction my respect has grown even more for that man. A true class act!
