On paper it'd probably be the 15/16 Warriors. 73 win season isn't something that can be ignored. But they didn't get the ultimate job done which lessens the achievement somewhat. There certainly been a lot of great teams. 96 Bulls, certainly there been some all time great Laker teams, Celtic teams also. Not easy to answer that question

Even though i like the 1987 Lakers and the 1986 Celtics more, maybe the best team of all time are the 1996 Bulls. They were powerful on both offense and defense.

There were parts of the Bad Boy Pistons championships that were overrated imo, but I do love the fact that they were considered outsiders in the league and they managed to repeat. The Lakers and Celtics were the league's most storied franchises. and L.A. had the entertainment industry and the money, while Boston had the historical significance. Isiah Thomas to me, is probably the most slept-on superstar of the 80s in the NBA, Joe Dumars was a lockdown perimeter defender as was Rodman on the post (he had good lateral movement as a Piston also, but not so much as a Spur or Bull), Laimbeer was money at the top of the arc (people forget that he was a Center who had good range for his time), Mark Aguirre and Vinnie Johnson were complementary players on the offensive end, and John Salley, Rick Mahorn, and James Edwards were complementary players on the defensive side.

@@mobetta2092 The first championship team coincided with an expansion season so Charlotte and Miami were new to the league (the Pistons had a combined 6-0 record against the two). The next season, Orlando and Minnesota joined the NBA and along w/ the Hornets and Heat that season, the 4 teams posted a combined 77 wins only. The Pistons had a 13-1 record against those 4 squads in 1990. As far as the post-season, the Pistons played a Celtics team w/o Larry Bird in 1989 and played against a Laker team that didn't have their 3rd best scorer and best 3-Point shooter in Byron Scott and Magic only played 1 complete games before a hamstring injury cost him the rest of Game 2, all but 5 minutes of Game 3, and all of Game 4. The Pistons got a memorable 15-2 record but none of the teams they faced before the Lakers won 50 games or more (the Bulls upset a 55-win Cavs squad in the first round and were the only team to win against the Pistons that year). The next season was a bit more legitimate but a severe migraine from Scottie Pippen could've given the Bulls the W in Game 7. I do give the Pistons credit though for 1988. There was a phantom foul that won Game 6 for the Lakers. Had it not been for the foul, the Pistons would've won the Finals 4-2. That was the same game as Isiah Thomas' ankle injury where he put up 25 points in a quarter. He wasn't 100% in Game 7 and the Pistons were beaten by the Lakers. Had it not been for the phantom foul, the Pistons could've been the first repeat AND 3-Peat teams since the 60s Celtics.
@mobetta2092
@mobetta2092 Жыл бұрын
@@kawaiiafangirl are you aware that the sever migraine that Scottie had was a result of the pressure of a Game 7 ECF at the Palace of Auburn Hills. You’re counting that against Detroit? The manner in which you’re scrutinizing the Pistons opponents, are you scrutinizing the Chicago Bulls when in 1991 an Isiah Thomas with a sprained ankle he suffered against Boston in the series before facing Chicago in the ECF and also a still injured wrist he came back prematurely from surgery on his shooting hand was dealing with? Or an injured Isiah in the 1988 Finals with a broken ankle? Are you counting that against the Lakers?
