I LOVE that you throw your yarn with your right hand. As a new knitter and someone who is quite a visual learner I find a lot of tutorials don't make any sense when people do the left hand thing and I can't follow it as it doesn't seem the same as what I'm doing!! ;)

Would this be the five inch needle with 30 inch cable to make 40?

I can follow your instructions, but when I cast on, using cable cast on, I have the yarn tail at one one and the working yarn at the other. did you knit 1 row before starting the Magic loop? or if not, what cast on method did you use? thanks!

She uses the long tail cast on method which makes both tail and working yarn on the same side

For continental knitting it's the same process, but the working yarn will be on the inside of the two needles, leaning left, as you hold it with your index finger from your left hand. Hope this makes sense!
