Cimo only opened 23 packs. The pack loader got stuck on pack 17 and never loaded it, so he only opened 16 in the first group. He then opened 7 more. 16 + 7 = 23. I hope this gets noticed and he gets to open his final Magic Ruler pack in the next episode. Who knows maybe it could have a really powerful card in it.

This is honestly still huge even if cimo has to go on a 6 loss streak to get a second ban. With such a system in place in Season 1 gage could have banned most DM staples cimo had over him over the course of the series and gotten rid of Kalut much sooner just as an example of its potential impact on the series. Given unbanning is only a 10% chance its also reasonable to assume that roughly 66% of the bans will stick assuming this system. If its every episode until they win that will very quickly cause gage to lose all his staples unless he loses a game and put cimo back in the series extremely quickly.

Great episode with cool moments. Like the MST G2 and the jars, but that eternal rest was hype. As for the banning system: I'm happy that there is SOMETHING for the loser, though I would've preferred a non-consecutive counter. Let's hope that this'll do. As for the actual ban: I think that swords might be the best choice here. It hits 2 of Gage's best cards, which is basically a +2 and allows for clown shenanigans (Cimo can't evenremove them). The power one-offs are great, too though.

@@michaelkeha While it might not be that relevant in modern yu gi oh, due to the very agile nature of the game and the fact that most cards are not minus at all, having multiple effects and being able to recycle themselves, it is still very relevant in the early yu gi oh format. And I mean, even today it still plays an important factor. Pot of Greed is the best example of that. Why is that card still banned? Its effect is pretty simple, no? Well, because it is a +1 in every situation under every deck. An opponent might negate it in modern yu gi oh, but in the worst case you still end up at 0 since the opponent needs also to usually use a card to do that.

Raigeki only matters if Gage can capitalize, while Change of Heart lets Gage surprise-kill a whole game by inverting Cimo's board in this Nuzzler Voltron format, not to mention its application as soft removal of dangerous flip monsters like Cyber Jar. And once Tuners become a thing... Come to think of it, this is about the least relevant Jinzo has ever been. Between the two, what's there for traps? Horn of Heaven? (Which beats Jinzo anyway...) I kinda' had my heart set on _somebody_ having Mirror Force this season...

Although I've been #TeamGage since the very beginning, I just can't see a justification for banning anything other then Raigeki at this point. Yes, Trunade, Change of Heart and Monster Reborn are all also very powerful, none of them plus half as hard as Raigeki with their current card pools. I know that since next week is Pharaoh's Servant there's going to be a lot more playable traps that will make Trunade a bigger hit, but it hasn't even been activated yet, and the only win that Alex has had so far has been because he used 4 cards just to mimic Raigeki's effect.

Swords of Revealing Light at this point is a significantly larger advantage engine. And he's got two of them. Raigeki will stay dangerous for longer, but that just means it's more important to focus on the now to get wins early and ban Raigeki later if it's necessary. Swords is basically a board wipe with draw 3 tacked on right now. Raigeki is just a board wipe.

I was thinking Raigeki but Sword would be a pretty big hit, especially before it gets limited. Though later on Swords would probably stop being used while Raigeki will stay relevant for a while. But Cimo could also pull a Raigeki later on in reprints. Swords goes to 1 in the Dec 2002 ban list, which should be in effect for Episode 5, so that honestly may not remain much of an issue and the next set also has Dust Tornado (and Imperial Order). So even for the short term, Swords doesn't seem like the best ban. Also, it is a lot more likely Cimo will end up with a copy of swords from the reprint sets than Raigeki since it is a lower rarity with far more reprints.

Looking long term, Change of heart is the obvious choice for a ban. Looking short term, Raigeki is the obvious choice. The problem with looking long term is that if Gage keeps on winning he has a chance to pull an unban, therefor Raigeki is the most optimal option.

I feel like Gage has a very fundamental misunderstanding of how impactful early sets are. Yes, "Fuck DM Staples" is a thing, but pretty much all of the important cards from these early DM sets will see multiple reprints, often in sets with much better cards to be shooting for.

I think that's the wrong idea. We've seen how impactful Raigeki can be end of series. If anything, using the tickets early narrows down what you need to aim for when the reprints do eventually come around. For Gage it'll just be Heavy Storm, maybe IO or Judgement if he doesn't pull them. Cimo's going to have make a lot of gambles though with a lot of difficult choices come Dark Beginnings. Cimo has the luxury of potentially passing off great openings to hope for better ones and really picking and choosing what he wants for the long game.

If they’re gonna do ban choice at the beginning of the episode after their 3 loss streak, it should be revealed to the other person after the winner has spun the wheel. That way the loser can’t declare a card, the winner spin and land on unban a card and throw the card right back in the pool.

They are Ban/Unban tickets, similar to the redoer tickets, they don’t have to use them right away. They can stack them if they want. Also I’m pretty sure they said in the pilot that they can’t use them until the end of an episode, so at the very least they have to play a full episode without the banned card before unbanning

For the curse of fiend ruling, YGOpro (or any other automatic sim, including official ones like Master Duel) should never be used as a ruling source. Programs can have bugs or limitations due to how it was coded. The spell can be activated from the hand during the standby phase, and does not have to be set first.

I think the ban is more difficult with side sets because there’s the chance that Cimo bans something and then regrets it soon after when he pulls his own copy too. That said I feel like Change of Hearts the best ban there is, haven’t seen how crazy it is yet in this series but it’s easily the most unfair card out there rn

I was exaggerating a bit since CIMO's card pool is kinda poop atm, so I expected Gage to win, but I'm also willing to give Gage props for playing up his hand. The guy took a solid start with LOB and is wracking up wins to maximize that winner wheel to get a strong card pool and he's investing those REDOER tickets to do it. Part of the reason CIMO is doing this bad is because he's being much more conservative with options here and settling for bad pulls to try and out-control or deck out Gage and that's just not working against Raigeki, Monster Reborn and Change of Heart. But that's just how CIMO does his thing, we see that cautious approach in the auction series, and Gage is taking advantage of it here for some early W's.

I think the best card to ban at the moment is Raigeki. If you listen to the deck building portion of this video as well as the last one, you'll hear Cimo say something like "If Gage doesn't have exactly Raigeki...". Not Reborn or Change of Heart. While yes, both of them get better with time, at the moment Raigeki outs everything. The problem is, that the wheel is constructed in a way that allows for a snowball-effect. If Gage keeps winning, he will keep earning rewards that will help him win the next episode as well. That's why with a ban you have to stop the current problem-card, not something that will be broken in 20 episodes from now.
