​@@sad10promoon the one hand this is more of a "Agatha Christie Mystery Set" that happens to be on ravnica, meaning we won't do a third round of "guilds hate each other, tensions escalating". I'll be curious if we'll even get guild watermarks or guild gates in the Murders of Karlov Manor, what with it being so focused on on one location. At the very least I lightly suspect they might go about guild mechanics differently (perhaps more akin to strixhaven's one mechanic but everyone uses it differently) and y'know Investigate coming back. On the other hand... If they were gonna do a murder mystery themed set, New Capenna was right there.

@@DeviantEdspear From what I understand Ravnica Remastered and Ravnica Clue will be two separate products from what it seems like. I won't get to experience the Clue set, because I'm a Historic Format player. However the Remastered Ravnica will (no doubt) be on Arena. This remastered set won't be bringing new mechanics. They will be reprints of the Ravnica cards we already have on Arena in addition to the ones that never made it to Arena. Which leaves and incredibly bad taste in my mouth. The entire Lord of The Rings set was added to Arena, which has broken the format with The One Ring.

Honestly, I've been interested for years and just got my brother to syst playing because of the lord of the rings set. He would have never tried it otherwise, and the last month we have been playing twice a week. I'd probably think they were selling out too, but it's hard to say that when I found a play group once it came out. I honestly don’t have an issue with the amount of sets and products per year as I don’t need to get all of them - just the ones that interest me but lately the prices of the products is an issue. I refuse to buy anything until I see better pricing. Very cool looking products planned but I just hope the products aren’t overpriced.

Mtg arena: one of the most frustrating things is that theres no way to make NEW friends on the platform bc you need their id number which is impossible to get when playing against randoms. A more comprehensive way for your community to interact with each other would only help the platform.

I don't care what the point is I care about what I want out of the format. WotC can do what they want. I play pioneer and limited. I quit Modern and am not looking back.

Too many IP crossovers waters down the IP it is based off of. As much as they might interesting, half of what’s coming out are IP crossovers. This game has really turned some corners to make it barely recognizable anymore.

The digital experience that I'm missing is Shandalar. A single-player replayable experience where you get to battle a large number of AI opponents in order to finish some grand quest, but this time with modern cards. I know it's a big ask, but it's the thing I want more than anything else.

Ian (of Arena team lead) also wants this, from talking about this very concept with him in the past. And yes, it is a massive ask. The closest you are going to get of a modern day equivalent is the nearly 12 year old Quest Magic RPG on tappedout that a user made through tappedout deck lists.

@@brianlinden3042 I have definitely been playing that a lot :) It's not officially supported anymore. The modder actually took the official versions online. It's actually a very fun experience. Would love a version that actually works within modern game design parameters, but I agree that that fan patch is a very nice experience.

Shandalar was really fun, running around a map collecting MTG cards and trying to avoid or hunt opponents, sneaking through dungeons to snag P9 cards and then slaying bosses for the grand quest.

Hasboro owns both properties and we've done it twice already. So it's probably an easy one for them to do, but they also seem backlogged with universes beyond properties. Final Fantasy was originally announced as a property they'd be doing universes beyond back in 2022, so to have the release be in 2025 shows how far out they're working on these and how full that schedule already is.

I hate this idea that the Magic setting is more of a platform for other IP and less of a world/set of worlds with their own distinctive lore. I get the drive to monetize the system, and to make it like a TCG version of D&D, more of a ruleset than setting but the flood of other IPs, crossovers and other universes really waters down the setting and I hate it.

@@fixo5132 There are a bunch of issues with more sets. Set design gets less time to work on sets, formats like standard or pioneer are constantly changing because they are getting so many new cards, people who want to participate in every set don't get to do that because it stops being affordable.

Modern is now rotating as fast as standard with Modern Horizons sets. On a positive note, I'm so glad Pioneer is coming to Arena, and the remastered sets really excite me.

I really do enjoy MtG as a game, and it’s obvious that the dev team is both passionate and talented, but the corporate synergy tie ins, extreme price hikes, and deluge of product is burning out a lot of people. It sucks that the entire identity of Magic’s IP has been diluted the the point where The Doctor can counter Cloud’s spell and accidentally save Optimus Prime in the process. When did Magic become ashamed of being MtG? Hasbro will make money off all this, no doubt about that, but Magic has lost its spark (heh), and I don’t know if it’ll get that back.

I am so excited for everything on arena and set wise! I've been so down on magic, but this reveal shows a commitment to communicating intent about magic's future, and it gave me so many wonderful things to look forward to. It's still really kind of a shame that ravnica remastered won't be there on Arena 😔

Not to be another whiny pest, but I'm gonna be a whiny pest. Please, please, please can we have some crocodile support? Right now I would love nothing more than to be able to run a legitimate crocodile tribal commander deck. (That isn't mostly changelings) I think Jhund would be an absolutely perfect colour combo for crocs, but I'd settle for Golgari. Also, thanks for collaborating with Square Enix, I love FF.

The releases look fantastic ! Also a deep dive on the FF series seems great ! Replays & spectator mode would be BIG for the social aspect of arena. I'm glad they are thinking about a 4 player mode but it would require some heavy UX lifting to beat spell table. I would love to see a Shandalar set 🙏

The fact that they're more bothered with bringing Commander to Arena than Modern is saddening. We're really not too far off from being able to get there. WotC, you wanna increase Arena numbers? Add ALL of your formats. You've already got the Power Nine and Duals programmed into the client! Just release all of your formats, already! Quit beating around the bush and just get it done so everyone is on the same platform and we don't have to resort to the clunky and outdated Hell that is MTGO to get our Eternal Format fix! If you really want all your players on the client, you'll need to include every format. It's just that simple. Costly in time and game design? Certainly. But there's no other way you're gonna get all your players into the Arena basket. Side note to make this even easier a transition on your players: allow for the porting of collections from MTGO to Arena. This way heavily established players don't have to build fresh collections and the time and monetary value they put into MTGO doesn't go unrewarded. I'm not fielding scoffs at this idea. Pokémon managed to do it between PTGCO and PTGCL and the latter is an absolute mess, but it still honored collections, at the very least. This transition needs to occur. It's natural at this point. Don't fight it and just get it done. That the only vision for Arena is Pioneer and "maybe find a way to make Commander work? Question mark?" and only goes to 2025 is unreal. You should be several steps ahead of future design because you are several steps behind. Its time to play catch up. Use that time wisely.

Tennis has definitely Xerex as one of the planes, can't wait to see some participants falling into the Infinity Stairs lol Also bloomburrow is a must draft for me, can't wait! I also see them shifting from Innistrad to Duskmourn since the first plane has been used too much and it has a European fantasy flare that's become too common amongst planes, will be cool to see how it will be revisited in a few years

Regarding the "death race" set: Xerex definitely seems like a strong contender. As far the 2 previously visited planes, I'm kinda leaning toward Kaladesh and New Capenna. That's just baseless speculation on my part though.

@@sarroth I don't know much about Xerex, but I read a description of the plane and it sounds absolutely insane 🤯 I'm hyped to see how it will be depicted on the cards. I suggested Kaladesh and New Capenna because they are planes where it makes sense to have a lot of vehicles. And the set is, after all, built around a "deathrace" theme, which seems to imply lots of vehicles. Makes sense to me at least lol.

They talked about expanding MTG Arena etc, It really baffles me why MTGO,Arena and Tabletop have different cards available to them.. I understand some cards need more adjusting than other, but the easiest way to bridge the gap between tabletop and digital format is simply to add more cards, and considering majority of cards are added to MTGO, why can't they be added to Arena as well?
