28:00 on page 14 of the first AotP set rules, it says that in multiplayer (greater than 2-player) games, the first player draws a card. It's in the 1v1 games where the first player doesn't draw. 30:29 oh no, you have this all wrong, brother. Line of sight (LOS) doesn't literally mean in a straight line of hexes... Ok, allow me lay this out for you: First, LOS is not required for summoning; iirc it is only required for attacking. CLEAR SIGHT is required for summoning (pg 7 of AotP rules under "PLANESWALKER RULES" says figures must be summoned within 5 clear sight spaces of your Planeswalker.) -You touch on what is required for LOS; you must be able to see the "dark gray" hit zone of the defending figure in question. Again, this is almost solely used in combat/attacking, and not with spells, abilities, summoning, etc. Those often use clear sight, below. -To establish clear sight, your figure must be able to see one of either the light gray OR dark gray of the figure in question. (pg 13 of AotP rules under "Clear Sight Spaces" gives you an example and says your Planeswalker can see any part of the figure, not just the hit zone (and excluding the figure base, lol.) So, hopefully this clarifies that LOS is not a literal line of hexes, rather it is an imaginary line drawn from the green sight point of your figure to any dark gray area on whoever you are attacking; and that clear sight condition is more forgiving than LOS, and is also still not a literal line of hexes. Summoning is super flexible! You can summon creatures "diagonally" (or, perhaps it's "not exactly in cardinal directions?") from your Planeswalker as long as: #1 - the creature is within 5 hexes of your Planeswalker; AND #2: your Planeswalker has clear sight to the newly summoned creature. #1 and #2 combined are what is encapsulated in the phrase "within 5 clear sight spaces of your Planeswalker." I'm heavily involved in AotP groups, I've run tournies and I'm working on my own YT content - check out my battle videos to see how we play for more clarification! I'm editing my own in-depth "how to play AotP" video, actually. Join us on this AotP Discord server to chat with AotP fans! discord.gg/vkAHtpwH

@@thehobbyist7275 Yeah I always appreciate the effort put forth by others to get the word out for AotP, it's a great game and doesn't use predatory random packs like MTG does... I finished watching your video, here are some extra rules clarifications for you: 42:45 The Firecat ("Lion") IS adjacent to Gideon, check pg 9 of AotP rules under "Becoming Engaged." The Firecat's base is on level 3, while Gideon has a height of 5. The actual logic for determining adjacency (barring something like ruins existing between the hexes/figures) is: Figure out what level/elevation each figure's base rests on. In your case, Gideon is on level 1, while the Firecat is on level 3. Now, for the lower figure (Gideon is on the lower level in this example,) add in their height number, which you find on the bottom left of their army card. Gideon's height is 5, so add 5 + his elevation level (1) = 6. Since Gideon's level + height is greater than the level that the Firecat's base rests on (3,) Gideon and the Firecat are adjacent and can pummel each other in melee combat. If they are enemies (which seems likely based on this scenario in your video,) they are engaged. Range 1 figures must be adjacent to their target in order to attack it. Figures adjacent to each other never need LOS to attack each other. Ranged figures never need adjacency to attack, but they need LOS to attack anything that is not adjacent to them. Basically, to break adjacency down further: IF (Lower figure's level + height) IS GREATER THAN (Higher figure's level) THEN the figures are adjacent. IF (Lower figure's level + height) IS EQUAL TO OR LESS THAN (Higher figure's level) THEN the figures are not adjacent. 43:45 You do not need to count upward for elevation when counting for ranged attacks, ie treat the entire board as if it were level 1, if that helps you visualize how the counting should work. Check out AotP rules pg 10 under "Who Can Attack?" and find the section labelled "Range."

You're the first person I've found that enjoys this game... I talked to the subreddit about this game and they aren't a fan of it

yeah, I suppose that the average mtg player that got blindsided by "hey look, mtg characters, take my money!" but actually arent wargamers or even board gamers will probably feel very cold towards this game This game actually is a somewhat bastardized version of a classic game, herowcape, which despite having been out of print for almost 15 years now still has a huge following of veteran gamers.

There's nothing wrong with that. There are plenty of older videos I comment on, too, lol... what stuff do you have?

OK, so hey, I'm sorry. I'm a little confused about the double space figures. I get the turning, that's one movement, but are you saying that they cost twice the movement to move? Like, if they're just moving on flat land, you count both spaces as movement? So i.e., if a double space figure has 6 movement, you can only move the leading head 3 spaces, because movement is halved? If that's the case, you basically moved this figure 9 and not 5, right? I don't know if that was a mistake or if there's something I'm not getting. Sorry, I'm really trying to understand this game. My twins and I love it, but we always get hung up on little rules like this.

No, I did pretty badly with this video. Even I'll admit that in retrospect 😅

Watching it further, I think you're saying that only the head counts as movement over flat land, because the ass end is taking place of the head each move? Is that right? Dude, I'm so confused. This game gives me an aneurism.

@@thehobbyist7275 Nah man, you did fine. This is an extremely confusing game at first, and in MTG tradition, the rulebook explains nothing well.
