Great job. I love Osage orange i live in tx and come across a fair amount, That color WILL turn dark brown when left in sun, I have yet to find a coating to stop that any ideas pass on. It takes a long time to dry but when it is dry I find is very stable . built a judges gavel and sound board came out very nice and the handle has yet to fall out lol. If you get a chance look up the specs on this wood and it may surprise you. Great job and beautiful wand. Will be waiting for the next Osage vid, Thanks

Thanks! I grew up in SW Oklahoma so I'm familiar with "horse apple" as well...LOL. I do miss the types of trees from down there (and the food). Seems like the sun is the bane of color for a LOAD of things; wood being no exception. I seal the wood as best I can, but don't recommend leaving any of them in the sun for long. But I DO really like this wood and hope it retains it's color for as long as possible. Seems quite durable at least, especially compared to other (see my upcoming aspen vid). The next Osage Orange vid is scheduled for midnight, so keep an eye out. Thanks for watching!

HAHA, fair. Trying something new uploading vids early and scheduling them to go public on certain days instead of posting as I finish them up. I'm way up in north Idaho, but I brought my smoker with me. Only way to get a good brisket is doing it myself. LOL

what is that live center you're using at the end?

I got it a few months ago from Woodcraft. I believe it's made by Easy Wood Tools (as they sneakily placed it in yellow so it's easily seen) but I'm not sure of the model. I like it for the most part as it has a cup as well as a center point that is adjustable. The point can be moved inside so it's not in contact with the wood and I can just use the cup, which is nice to support the wand once I cut off the tennon. I can also adjust how much of the point stick out past the cup depending on how hard the wood I'm turning is. The bearings do get a bit warm, but I've yet to find a center that didn't heat up. It's my only complaint really. Oh, they do make additional attachments for it as well that go on the threaded part, but I think they were for larger projects and I didn't check into them. Thanks for watching! 😁
