I've heard so much negativity talked about Gallery of Magick books, but personally I have used lots of their stuff successfully. It's always nice to be able to dress up, light candles, get out your magickal paraphernalia and engage in some ritual High Magick, but for many of us that's not possible, and having practical stuff like that GOM creates that you can do literally on the spot is great. Haven't checked this book out yet but prob will some day.

Jason Miller had good advice on this, the major part being - make sure you want to make contact, as it can turn your life upside down. And if one is happy married and settled for example... you might not necessarily want that

I believe this is in relation to the traditional methods where, sans turning your life upside down just to accommodate the ritual methods, prayers, and fasting “needs” demanded of the aspirant, the traditional methods require the magician summon “The Four Kings of Hell and command them to obedience” - as somewhat reflective of the Holy Guardian Angel (if that is in fact _what_ you are calling) _descending_ upon the aspirant/magician and helping re-order his Life around. *_”As Above, So Below”_* In _Magickal Destiny_ however, Damon assures the reader that the methods he offers are not at all so disruptive, and precisely _why_ he is publishing this material. It is a curious book, and the only one of the Gallery of Magick books that I haven’t devoured, only because the HGA never interested me, as I always believed that attaining “the knowledge and conversation” with one’s Holy Guardian Angel would somehow _deny_ us our human pleasures. Damon explains that this is not the case. Other authors agree, specifically Michael Kelly, who says the Holy Guardian Angels isnt “separate” from you - *_it is You._*

Thank you very much for not only this book review, but an overview of what GoM are all about, as I've been wondering about their series of books for a long time, and felt a degree of reluctance, though I could never pin down why. I feel ready to give a few titles a try now, and have actually made two purchases, which I've gotten going with (I will hold off on this particular title, though I am somewhat familiar with the subject matter and very keen to explore this offering). I'm one of those people who does a ton of reading and lacks in practice, but actually, now having read the intro to one of Brand's books, I gained a lot of insight into what's stopped me. Very intriguing. Anyway, I began just one operation, and weird things started happening right away. My computer monitor spontaneously crashed onto my desk, I caught sight of the exact thing I am requesting for on a screen (I did not write it), and the name of the spirit I am contacting was spoken spontaneously in a completley unrelated video I watched. This happened within a day of beginning. Grateful for this video, the fact that you trust GoM inspired confidence in me.

Could I ask how things have progressed, since? This comment was made around a year ago, it seems, so I guess much has happened, since then? I think I have one GOM book, and personally I really didn't like it at all, I felt like it lacked substance, but ultimately the results are what count. I'm thinking that I should have another go, and see what Magickal Destiny is all about; maybe it will really mix things up.
@Myperfectshell Жыл бұрын
@@JivecattheMagnificent Thank you for asking this! 😀 I’ve been thinking about this since I saw it and I’m unsure how to answer. The efficacy of magic is most often subtle, in my experience. I would say overall I agree with your assessment, but what matters to me is what can get me into a powerful feeling state. Sometimes it’s GOM, but sometimes it seems too tedious and something like 5 minutes of creative visualization according to no set formula is the most effective thing I can do. I’d love to be someone who goes all out with the tools and the words and the rituals, but I’m too lazy and spontaneous. I will say that I did the master protection ritual twice this year and it was a very enriching experience. I highly recommend it. I did plenty of sigils, Angel stuff and a money spell, and I did not see tangible effects that I can point to, for me the that gave the practices value was clarifying what I want and glimpses of that brilliant feeling state, which to me is what it’s truly all about. What about you? What has been effective for you, and given your practice value? I don’t have anyone in my life that I can talk to about this kind of thing, so I’m very curious!
@JivecattheMagnificent Жыл бұрын
@@Myperfectshell Hahah, hey no problem, no problem! 😁 Yeah, I can't think of too many people that I can share this with freely, either. I think what you've said about the results being subtle is really true, or at least, the way the results come about tends to be very subtle. We have to be willing to look out for signs, and to rely more upon our own intuition for these things to work, or, so I think, anyway. Some of the results have been quite striking, like for example there was a time back in the summer where I really wanted a bike and was looking at different options that I could afford, then at work I was sent upstairs to look around for something and clear out this room that I'd never been in before, and there was a bike there! I asked my manager why it was there, and they said: "Oh someone left it ages ago, you can have it if you want." 😅 Now, I turned this down, because actually I decided I needed a folding bike (for the bus). A couple of days later I was in the car with my mother, when I happened to see that one was sitting at the side of the road with a "second hand" sign next to it, and she offered to buy it for me. Now, none of this was intentional, but came about quickly just as a result of the intention to get a bike, thinking about riding one, visualising it, so on, but yeah I think this ties in well with what you've said about how often it's just the feeling state which is important (I'm a big fan of Neville Goddard, in this respect). I will say, I did buy a copy of Magickal Destiny, read it all that night, and am working with it now, so yeah, let's see what unfolds. I'd love to hear of any specific instances of success you've experienced with GoM material, if there's anything you'd like to share?
@Myperfectshell Жыл бұрын
@@JivecattheMagnificent This is amazing, so great learning about your experience here! I actually went through my book of shadows (which is much more like a random journal which also includes study notes and how-to’s), usually I forget to record my spell outcomes, but what I noticed largely with GOM was that much of what I’d sought was very general, ie asking for clarity, for increased focus, protection, forgiveness, etc. i wouldn’t say that I was not pleased with results, but more that it helped me set the intention and achieve the feeling state I’m working on, which I feel is more conducive to magic and manifesting. I could not find a single instance where I’d requested something specific and concrete. That being said, if I look back over the past year, which is roughly when I began working with these books, I’d have to say that it’s been a good year overall, especially in terms of personal growth. Certain kinds of change do not come easy for me, yet this year what stands out is that I got a new car and my first dog, two things I wanted very very much for a Very Long time, but for whatever reason, felt out of reach. I know they’re just simple things, but to me this truly made my year. On the other hand, I worked my butt off applying for 3 separate jobs (my own company, so I still have my job) and in each instance I came so close but did not get an offer. What’s interesting about this is that in the past I always got jobs I applied for, but also that my heart wasn’t really in it for any of them. But my goodness did I work hard preparing, harder than ever before (I am a wing it person) - that in itself is what I’m glad about, because motivation often eludes me. Anyway, I pulled the books up on my kindle this week and I’ve been gathering the confidence to be more specific and risk failure (or venture into wild success!). So I’ll update ya!

@@Myperfectshell Ah, this is really great to hear, and yes, it's likely that your work with the GoM material would have influenced everything else around you, even if the requests weren't especially specific, and I very much do look forward to hearing from you when something you specifically decide to acquire or experience comes into reality. Found the book very useful and initial contact, but need to set time aside per day for something more reliable. Love GOM books, they remind me of polished Finbarr books, or what they could have become. The repetition was tedious, then again it's a book for all people and those new to the subject may overanalyze, have doubts or generally be vexed by the system. Hope they do publish all books in the collection as a 'grand grimoire' of sorts. I own paperbacks of some, but would love all the information in one place. Enough rambling. Honestly, from my own personal, verifiable experiences, I believe that these rituals are NOT (despite the overwhelming popular belief) to awaken the HGA within us but to awaken US to the knowledge of our HGA (hence the title) that is already present. We are awakened to their methodologies and how they work within each of our lives. The arduous approaches of the past were an example of such a need as continued repetition of the rituals honed our focus on how our HGA interacts with us, communicates with us, etc. Simultaneously, this simple book also has the ability to awaken us to our HGA's existence through protocols and sigils. The reason I feel that both approaches work is simply because we have worked at this from the wrong perspective. I was a Christian for 20 years and during that time, I experienced many identical "guardian angel" experiences, not realizing that many of the things I was doing were literal divination practices I now see in our grimoires. I am even willing to say say that this little book isn't even necessary (although I HIGHLY recommend it for its super focused and direct approach) to make contact with our HGA. My encounter was simply acknowledging a "spirit guide", "guardian angel", "secret chief", "holy spirit" (whatever you want to name it/them) and naturally observing (not paying too much attention but keeping it in the back of my mind) of synchronistic, corroborative messages presented to us in our reality. The very first day I read this, I did the protocol in which you make a "task" into a ritual to your HGA. I decided I would walk my dog and focus on the HGA being with me, communing with me, and being present with me. I heard a bird that is quite rare for where I live and looked to see it land in this VERY small opening in the midst of extremely dense trees/brush. It was a bluejay. It felt pointed and direct...exactly like it ALWAYS has, since I was young. After returning to the house, I looked up the symbolic/spiritual meaning of the bluejay and they are literal "messengers of god". The very same name is attributed to angels. I knew at that point that I was communing with the very same gentle friend that has been quietly guiding me, protecting me, and teaching me, throughout my entire life...I just simply did not have a definition for such a sentience. Again, this is my own personal experience and I will never claim it is fact, but it could not be any more identical to the same loving presence I've come to call "a friend who sticks closer than a brother".

I can't wait to get this. I know of someone who completed the Abremalin operation years ago. I am surprised to see the angel does not help him see the lies of the msm as he goes along with it. He seems to surround himself with complete and total love you can see it in his interactions and pictures. Every act for him is love and it I guess makes his life like that full of happiness. I see the angel is a state and I didn't think he cares to know about the terrible things of the world. He only wants to focus on love for yourself and your neighbor apparently. That unlocks the consciousness I guess. At least for him. He appears to be in a state of bliss. Complete love is the angel and it reflects all aspects of his life. I think I want to go the dark route actually like Michael Ford merge with the Daimon instead.

Funny you mention redundancy in this book. I've found Damon Brand to be a rather redundant writer in many respects. He seems to repeat himself a lot in these books. I noticed it a bit when I got Magickal Protection and Magickal Cashbook, but it really became apparent when I got Gordon Winterfield's Demons of Magick. Between the two, I much prefer Winterfield's succinct prose style. But, Magickal Protection is a great grimoire, so I'll extend the olive branch to Brand. This one might be worth checking out also.

I am having some difficulty finding the discord channel as the youtube connection just gives me an error and I have no idea how to create a paid membership through the options I am given on my app. I will persist however and likely will be there soon.

Hi, Your channel is amazing I have learned so much from you and the books you recommend. I always share your vids with the groups I use on social media. I am wondering if you or anyone who reads this can help me. I started the the abramelin ritual a few months ago but before we finished I succumbed to the effects of a herb I had ate. I did see my guardian angel but I almost died. The doctors cant figure out why all of a sudden I have a hole in my heart and liaisons on my brain which I never had before lol. But ye do I need to go back and finish the ritual? Sorry if I come across clueless that is because I haven't walked this path for long. Thanks to anyone and everyone!💗

Good gracious! No, that doesn't sound good... What kind of hardship were you putting yourself under? I'm afraid I'm not the right person to give you advice one way or another. Only you can decide what's best for you under these circumstances.

@@FoolishFishBooks hardship during the ritual? Varied at different points of it I guess. It was datura I ingested which was such a shit idea tbh. The person who performed the ritual passed away a few weeks ago. Totally separate from the ritual but I don't know what to do now. I think it the ritual itself was fuked the moment he took me outside but I don't know.

@@alanreilly6016 do you know, I think you might do well do try working through this book. The negativity you seem to have absorbed through whatever your 'guide' led you through will need some time to heal. Your HGA might be able to help you through some of it. Again, while many occultists might feel that they learn from the hardships, I honestly don't believe that they are necessary for effective contact. Maybe that is the way you contact your own HGA - sincerely asking for help healing. Good luck to you!

@@FoolishFishBooks Worst thing about the whole situation is I didn't even get to speak to mine. It looked like an angel from the old testament not anything like what we would expect or even the one in dark song. Soon as it opened its mouth boom back to reality. Good warning for anyone else trying this I guess. Ah I just realized this is same author who wrote the magical protection book. I have another fuked up story about that one too lol. TY I have ordered the paperback edition it doesn't arrive until end of month. Thanks for the review and advice my friend!

I don't know about the gom books. I have attempted one ritual to keep my job down and one to be heard and held in regard by my bosses since I needed shifts to be given a turn in my work place etc etc... well...next ting you know everybody hated me, to the point of being mobbed in my work place and I got fired, without me having really changed attitude ever. I was being daily humiliated to the point of tears and thinking of sueing them for mobbing. Then: I have been using their banishing ritual involving the 4 archangels and...it all worked..until the archangels started showing up in my minds eye with horribly creepy smiles and now I am afraid to go into it and use it again. I don't know, it's the occult and you can possibly never KNOW if it's your mind or you really are stirring up the enochian ether and getting someting out of it. PLUS: ALL THESE AUTHORS NEVER SHOW UP TO PUT THEIR FACES ON THEIR WORK,you never see them on any occult channel facing the crowd and its doubts..so...yeah...I don't know. I don't trust em. No no no. I, still, would not recommend their work.

Seems like a great book but isn't being hard supposed to be part of the quest for the HGA? Like a shamanic ordeal or Grail Quest? Our modern day instant everything might not be a good thing here? Just my musings out loud....in the end its a personal thing anyway, some need difficult in life and others not so much lol
@mielipuolisiili72403 жыл бұрын
It's my understanding that the original Abramelin ritual was written in time period where pretty much all magick was viewed as being difficult and requiring daunting amounts of rituals and prayers. Later on we have found out that more can be achieved with less but somehow people still kept insisting that HGA should be an exception. The reasonings for that evade me. If HGA is by definition a being that's either a part of yourself or separate but watching constantly over you, why should knowledge of and conversation with it be more difficult than, say, evoking gods and demons?
@TheOneandPrime3 жыл бұрын
@@mielipuolisiili7240 i think convincing reasons could be said for both views here. HGA requiring a significant amount of effort is worthy of the monumental significance of achieving K&C. From all accounts its a permanent head spirit, as in you are irrevocably changed for the rest of your life, anyone who is not ready for that would be weeded out by the difficulty of the process (or at least the length of it). Just like spirit evocation, K&CHGA can be something ppl think they want until they get it. Also the long process allows for the necessary changes in one's life to occur. Just a couple ideas, Im not disagreeing with you but such a life altering communion is worth considering from many angles. There are HGA like beings in the PGM (like the Agathodaimon) that can be contacted and a relationship forge with in a single day. It's really awesome that these options exist but i cant help but wonder is this the same HGA from Abramelin, or one of the MANY other similar beings spoken off across cultures?? ATR have head spirits as well and for them it is a deadly serious and difficult task for both the practitioner and the spirit.

Damon Brands style of Magic is by using the power of our own consciousness to manipulate an outcome. It's all it is!! Imagine spending 11 days on a ritual where you pray to an Angel. Ofcourse what you wish for will come true, any person with half a brain will know that!! lol
