Ah yes. Sunday nights at 7! My sister and I watched 'Magical World of Disney' on CBC here in Canada every weekend. After watching the video, I'm actually surprised how vividly I remember it. Great memories!

Gosh I remember this intro! Me and my twin would pretend we were flying into the world of Disney and it definitely made us believe in magic and the shows we were watching!

They did move this to Disney Channel in the 1990s and kept the NBC intro until 1996 when it was replaced by a CGI version of Cinderella's castle. I liked about this intro was Tokyo Disneyland, the Epcot Center/Epcot which I had been too 3 times in my life, & MGM/Hollywood.

Of course, I can't forget about the 90's kids! That decade was awesome too! I'm just an 80's baby myself, so I got a little single-minded. :)

This was such a huge part of my childhood. Every Sunday evening at 6:00, with Road to Avonlea at 7:00.

I remember this one, so well. The part with Ernest P Worrell on the ladder, as it tipped over, always made me laugh.

This was the "MAGICAL WORLD OF DISNEY"'s second season title [1989-'90], when NBC tried to shoehorn Barbara Eden's "A BRAND NEW LIFE" miniseries into the weekly mix. Not even Roger Rabbit could save this from cancellation at the end of the season.

He doesn't. As with many shows on Disney Channel back in the day, Disney would pay a studio or distributor unrelated to them a fee for the rights to broadcast a program that wasn't a Disney original. That's how ABC Family (a Disney-owned company) is able to broadcast the Harry Potter movies (a Warner Bros. franchise) on that network these days, just as an example. They would simply do the same thing back then for Magical World.

It is obvious MTV was the reason why Disney changed to this music.

I really miss watching this stuff. The company today is really lacking with it's true form ever since "Uncle Walt" passed on.

it was... but this isn't the original... originally there was a segment with a mickey mouse hot air balloon hovering over a scene with the dwarfs hi-ho-ing their way to work... you can find the original here on YT.

Actually the Ernest movies were by Touchstone, which is a division of Disney.

@OohcoolProductions No, that's not luck. Luck would be a complete reboot of the Disney Channel, eliminating all the "Original Series", and bringing back the classic programs.

Except for Phineas and Ferb, The Princess Diaries, Ice Princess, Pucca, DuckTales (the original series from the 80s and the 2017 reboot), Lady Lovely Locks and the Pixietails, Lizzie McGuire, Lloyd in Space, Doug (Disney version), Aladdin: The Series, the Paddington Bear animated shorts, the stop motion LEGO animated shorts, LEGO Friends, Wander Over Yonder, Power Rangers, Stoked, Girlstuff/Boystuff, Glitter Model, Braceface, Player Select, Pokemon and Milo Murphy's Law Pickle and Peanut should literally leave Disney and head to Cartoon Network

dgwaters, Disney had made a parody called "Dtv" so the MTV connections didn't go that far.

@OohcoolProductions The jackoffs at the Walt Disney Company pretty much turned their backs on the lineage that Walt Disney himself put into place. They've essentially rejected Walt's history and are trying to create their own. And he's rolling in his grave because of it. It's gotten to the point that they might as well just eliminate all classic Disney references altogether, including the use of the Mickey Ears in the Disney Channel logo.

@MassHysteriaChannel10114 жыл бұрын
@ccipollini1984 I'll tell you one thing for sure. If Walt Disney were still alive, they'd be doing things much differently. Walt would have insisted on keeping the old school traditions intact even in the modern era. Are we absolutely sure that he wasn't cryogenically frozen? Because...yeah, we totally need him to save his company, and not just the television branch of it.

Wow, back when they were trying to shove Roger Rabbit down everyone's throats. Why don't the folks at Disney feature him much anymore? Can you imagine a Roger Rabbit and Stitch film?
@MassHysteriaChannel10114 жыл бұрын
@ccipollini1984 Well I'm not saying all hope is lost either. I just think they need to try harder to bring the adult audience back in, particularly 80's kids like us who were with them them during the early years of the channel. Sure, they might not have the broadcast rights to many of those old shows anymore since some of what they broadcast were created and produced by a third party. But the least they could do is start showing more of the old stuff they DO own.
@MassHysteriaChannel10114 жыл бұрын
@ccipollini1984 All corporations are about making money. That's not the point. The point is what you said: Disney Co. completely lacks the passion it once had. It's like they don't have faith in tradition anymore, and that's where they fail. They think their absolute goal is to draw in kids and teens, and I don't get it. They used to show old programs for grown-ups like Zorro during prime time and late night. Why can't they do that for us, except have it be stuff from the 70's and 80's?
