Magician reacts to Ondrej Psenicka 2020 performing card magic tricks for Penn and Teller on their show Penn & Teller Fool Us 2020. Ondrej is a magician from Czech Republic, and in this episode he demonstrates three impossible card tricks. Ondrej Psenicka season 7 of Fool Us shares a very entertaining act... and I really don't know how he had Alyson somehow force a card on a spectator. It's mind-boggling. Ondrej Psenicka has previously fooled Penn & Teller twice and won the Fooler trophy. He attempts to win for the third time and have a three fooler victories. This video shows the reaction of someone familiar with magic so you can see how someone in this field feels about the performance! This is Fool Us Season 7 2020.

🎥 Lens for "talking to the camera" (great bokeh): amzn.to/2MtgAWQ
💡 Powerful Light (helps video quality): amzn.to/2QOTFcw

Extra equipment
🔵 Tripod for camera: amzn.to/2U1O8Ri
🔵 Light Stand: amzn.to/3aawnoM
This light stand is kinda not sturdy enough because the light and soft box are so large; the whole thing can tip over easily. But it's what I use! 😆 Or you can perhaps find another light stand that is rated to hold more weight. Or just put something heavy (like sandbags) onto the bottom to lower the center of gravity.

Are you putting up one new video every single day. you're going to run out pretty soon. Stretch it out a little had a period Where you barely posted anything I was in the Czech Republic back in 92 right before it separated actually 8 days before it separated I thought it was just slovika and Czech Republic. As of New Year's Day that year, Prague is a very strange place especially the old side it was mostly friendly except for the gypsies. My father is Czechoslovakian so I wanted to visit our home country now I don't know which one it is it today.🙀

3:31 If anybody cares what he says here, it's a Czech tongue twister actually, which has nothing to do with what he was talking about, he used it just cause it sounds funny to people not familiar with Czech. It means: "Did the daughter of the king Nabuchodonozor let her hair loose, or didn't the daughter of the king Nabuchodonozor let her hair loose." You're welcome.

It's a show right on the Penn and Teller show. Without a certain theatricality of the protagonists, viewers would not want to watch this show, because the real fun lies in the reactions to the undiscovered trick, not the revealed ones. The show is based on a very good concept with personalities.

Would've been much simpler to just get some video editing software that could super impose the faces on the fly. I can't imagine such software would run you more than $100-$200. You could probably tackle that for free if you've got a modicum of technical computer savviness or a general git-er-done attitude.

@@dismalthoughts There was another magician on this show that used clips of Penn saying certain words in order to form songs out of him saying those words for a trick, he said it took him countless hours of combing through the show to do it and he much later learned that there's software that can do it much faster and easier lol

I think some of the best routines include a couple of "sloppy" tricks that the audience is supposed to catch as a way of lulling them into a false sense of security.
@moderndrifter6993
@moderndrifter6993 3 жыл бұрын
There was another magician that fooled them by doing that. Penn says that they got over confident as the act went because it was easy to follow. Then the final act/trick is where they had no idea what or how the trick happened. I agree that letting the audience follow the trick is best right until the very last part.

To answer the question from the beginning: Czechia is just a short form of more formal name The Czech Republic. Now it is officially preferred because of that. However because of old habits even citizens of Czechia often use that latter longer form.

The first force I realized when you reminded us about his cards. I knew I had seen them before, but didn’t remember they were his. He does fan them as a convincer. But I don’t think that force is half as strong as you thought it was 😏😏 I have no idea about the 2nd trick. It’s so quick and simple and smooth. I’m fooled. And I love that he tells us how long the third one takes. What’s Penn’s quote about how people underestimate how much someone is willing to just sit in their house for hours on end to make a trick happen? I hope it helps people appreciate what magicians do more.

My Take, The bug one was impressive and the one Penn and Teller were fooled by. I had previously commented on another one of your videos he probably had several clips and he would have just presented the right clip. I went back to his other times on the show and even though that is a possibility I no longer think that was the case. Yea he could have pulled up some clip that had nothing to do with him, but that would have screamed FAKE! So what does this leave us with. Penn checked the Ace of Spades card which tells me that card was not gimmicky. That makes me think there is an Ace of Spaces glued to the back of all the cards, so if checked at the end they all look legit. That only leaves me with the possibility there is some way to remove the fake card to just leave the AS. So if Penn had messed with any of the other cards the trick would have been exposed as all the other cards still had the fake card in front of the AS. So how is the fake card removed to reveal the AS is the Question. And I can only guess. Maybe the bug itself does something. Maybe this is a very sophisticated stand and card setup. Where the bug triggers something in the stand to remove the fake card in front of the AS. I have no idea, So I too am fooled!!!!

You can YouYube his previous appearances, those were the real past selections, so it must have been a force somehow. My guess? The guru's mouth is the most shaped for eating a bug? And maybe he researched Alyson to see she prefers blue (since you can safely pick Alyson, you *can* craft a force specifically for her). I dunno, I mean it could be something like that. And I have no idea how you get Alyson to force a card on someone else. That's next level.

I don't think there was any forced card at all, even in the beginning. this was a showcase of all the video clips he had of the penn and teller cast and crew. he literally had a clip for any card that was picked because of previous card tricks done on the show , and he filmed a clip of any card combination that penn and teller ended up with. Still, the level of dedication deserves something.

I remember Penn saying that they used to hate magicians trying to do multiple tricks in order to win. He said they demanded from the producers that no one be allowed to do it anymore. I wonder if they waved that requirement for this show or just because he's a friend they gave him a pass. Either way, all 3 tricks were cool, even if 2 of them were pretty predictable.

I listened to a podcast with Ondřej and apparently when he was asked to go to Fool Us for the third time, he was out of performance practices. His two major hit practices were already used, so he kinda had to make up something silly and hope for the best. So I think they basically had to allow him to perform multiple tricks if they wanted to bring him back there. He also said that since it was kinda hastily put together, he was still memorizing the script and finishing details on his way to Vegas, which is also not according the rules :D

And the "throw cards over your shoulder" just a red herring Dude is my hero! :D

I really highly doubt that was how he did this. Remember, his first trick involved the card they guessed in his first show Then the second trick, it was the card they guessed in his second show Like, It's a pattern it can't just be pure luck, and what sort of outcome would he make for the other 6 cards? I can't think of anything not pathetic because there are only 7 cards and he obviously knows all of them so, something that already happened is the only way for this to actually be a decent card trick.

@@zaidelaymat797 I don't want to divulge anything, but for a certain production you need a good and disciplined audience that follows the instructions and is not interested in spoiling the magician's production. If you perform magic yourself, you know the cases where the spectator (male-hero), especially in front of women, tends to change the recommended procedure to "convict" the magician. That's why, for example, you no longer borrow cards from your hands. The magician bet well on the discipline of his audience - he could throw the cards in the deck to Teller, who followed exactly the procedure, that the selection will be made pictures down, that the second card will be the first from above and that the other cards should be thrown behind. The power of this particular magic is in the trust that will convince others that the matter was not forced. There's a bit of psychology involved

Yeah. The third trick is not "so magical", but it was only done to surprise the audience. And it worked; you can hear how people react when he correctly "predicts" which cards P&T will choose. Even the fact that he spent so much time after knowing which card Penn took to find out which card Teller took, is so that the person in charge of reproducing the correct clip can discard all the "predictions" in which Penn took a different card to the 9 of hearts and just find the clip where he's also correct in "predicting" Teller's queen of diamonds. However, let's not be fooled, he had to record over 2,500 clips to have all possible outcomes.
@DL-kc8fc
@DL-kc8fc 4 жыл бұрын
Of course, there are no crazy permutations. The power of the trick lies in the simplicity that everyone immediately eliminates, which is why it is so good. All this is called "magic". The trick is "magical" in every way.

Psenicka is a funny and strange guy. I think the first trick was a brainwave or smooth/rough deck (guaranteed 8-hearts). You can tell the guy who picked the card had to struggle a tiny bit separating the chosen card from the one beneath it. The 2nd trick I think all the cards had an A-spades with some other card on top and when he went behind the stand he removed the card that was covering the A-spades on the picture Alison chose (funny that Penn thought it was the double-backed card when it was probably the only one which had its double-back removed and was therefore "clean"). After he wins when the cards fall on the floor, the camera cuts away and never shows that part of the floor again (at least not with the close camera) - I suspect one of the other double-backs may have separated. The last trick is the easiest and was almost certainly just a computer rendering the correct rank /suit in the time between seeing the cards and the on-screen reveal. Notice the recording didn't have him speaking the chosen cards.

@@RyanC232 Penn specifically said they were only going to look at the one card that showed the Ace before declaring him a Fooler. After that some of the other cards fell and the camera cut away. The story about the scorpion and the frog is actually called "I can swim" because the scorpion can actually swim (technically walk on the surface of the water) and so it did it to trick the frog into lowering his guard because normally a frog can kill a scorpion. Oh, and I think he chose the one with the blue turban because its Alison's second favorite color. Green would be too obvious being he favorite color

First one. It has to be a single card deck. If he has a new method I bet he would have called Penn out on that. Last one was indeed obvious. That second one. He took his time on the reveal. I expected some xerox trickery. With heat you can make one type of paint disappear and another appear. I asked him and he (kinda) denied. So I'm stumped.

There's another, much easier, explanation for the second trick. As for a single-card deck, I could see the 4 of diamonds in Alyson's hands at the bottom of the deck. As it was when he fanned them. So... still not sure about that part.
