Magician's magician: Remembering sleight of hand master Ricky Jay

Even colleagues were amazed by what Ricky Jay could do with a deck of cards. Jay, who died last week, was known as a magician's magician, whose tricks baffled even the most experienced sleight of hand artists. Anthony Mason reports.

I know many of the techniques he used but I would watch him, knowing what he was going to do, watch him perform and still not be able to see the technique. Ricky was flawless. He could fool the best professionals, a true master of the craft of magic.

He wasn't a 'jack of all trades' - he was a 9th degree black belt master of illusion. He was a master craftsman.
