fakesolid Not to be an asshat, but I do know how he did it on my one and only time I watched the video. It just takes logic. He most probably had another card that’s the same as the one he signed on. A little sleight of hand here and there and it looked like he folded Ellen’s card when it was actually his signed card all along. The real trick was his sleight of hand ability. Really amazing. Magic tricks are just that, tricks. There’s always an explanation for it logically. But how you manage to trick others without them seeing, that’s the real skill of magic that he has.

It's called a double lift, he lifted two card; Ellen's signed 10 of Hearts on the bottom with a duplicate of a signed Queen of Spades on top of it, then placed on the top of the deck which he fold and gives it to Ellen. He signs the Queen of Spades that's on the bottom of the deck but he fold the top card of the deck and puts it in his mouth (Ellen's Card). If you look carefully at 2:24 as soon as he puts the card in his mouth you could see that he accidentally flashed Ellen's card.

This is just a simple slight of hand trick. His other stuff is way more difficult to do. He has a card already marked with his signature in the deck and he knows where it's at. That's the one he puts in Ellen's mouth and he keeps her signature card the whole time and he puts it in his mouth. It's a simple but fun trick

He did have a story tho, the producers ask for stories of all top 40 participants. Of course the majority has sad stories from their life because they're imperfect human beings just like everyone else what do you expect. And just because singers are common that is no reason at all to disrespect, dislike them, or not give them a chance. I do agree that Shin Lim deserved to win, he's a real life wizard.

He didn't switch the cards, he had a pre-signed Queen of Spades at the bottom of the deck, so he used some double lift to give her his pre-signed card, and another double lift to move her signed card to his mouth.

1:55 u clearly see a pinky break, getting ready for a double lift. 2:01 clearly doing a double lift, leaving ellens card second from the top, and instead of folding her card he folds his favorite card, the queen of spades, already signed. Then later on procedes to double lift again leaving ellens card on top and his signed card second, now he eats her card, and voila✌🏽
