At 8:43 Penn stuck the card onto the side of the box. At 9:45 when everyone is distracted by Penn and Richard you can see Teller reach for the side of the box to get the card, then as soon as he does this you can see him turn around. As for the breathing part, he could've actually been holding his breath for that long, but most likely he could've been using a secret breathing mechanism. I don't think he was breathing purely in the tiny space in his goggles. The breath-holding illusion could've been done in many ways, in which one of them is that secret pipes are stuck inside Teller's nostrils which run through the goggle frames and through the sides of the goggles, into his shirt or something and a small air tank hides in his shirt. I noticed that Teller constantly keeps his head on his left arm, so if his breathing method was used, then I think the pipes run through his left sleeve, and he breathes in through his nose and breathes out through his mouth, which he does time to time.
@EpicDoggiez6 жыл бұрын
Well done. I’m too lazy to look at the slight of hand, but it was obvious that the card was slipped in in one of the times he went to the box. Also there’s a video that showed how the breathing underwater for 20 minutes was possible. I assumed it was something similar to that

@daniel_charms4 жыл бұрын
You can find an earlier version of this trick on KZbin where it did almost go wrong and Teller was in actual danger of drowning so they had stage hands rush to the set to pull him out the moment the card was revealed. Teller apparently got some water inside the mask as he was slipping the card in, so they subsequently revised the trick to make sure it would never happen again.

6:22 Immediately after shuffling the cards, Penn turns to his left and pockets the card in his left pocket while also misdirecting us by asking Judy for the time. 8:38 You can see Penn reach back into his left pocket for the card before the camera cuts to a shot of Teller. Right after, Penn goes up to the tank and places his left hand on top of the tank to set the card in place. 9:45 Teller turns to his right to grab the card before completely turning around to place the card inside of his goggles.

When they used the same props on SNL, Penn pushed the 3 of clubs. Here, if there was a push, it wasn't the only trick. Penn had Richard sign the card. Richard picked the 10 of spades then Penn pulls a 10 of clubs out of an envelope. Did Penn push the 10 of spades or was Penn able to produce any of the 52 cards from an envelope? Then at the end, Teller has the card in his mask, but unlike on SNL it has a signature. Did Penn pass the card to Teller or did they reproduce the correct card with signature. The comparison is very interesting.
@AudieHolland2 жыл бұрын
The volunteer signs the card that the magician wants him to sign. So even with a fresh unopened deck, the cards could still be the same. Only thing the magician has to make sure is that before and after pushing the card, the audience will think it's a random deck. When Penn is standing near his partner, ready to take the key and open the lock, is the moment he hands the card to Teller. *That is why the key has this rather big nameplate with "Teller" on it. He can slide the card in a holder behind the nameplate* How do I know? Magicians don't take chances. They know the end result beforehand. And the only way to make sure the end result is always the same, is to push a card, then somehow handing it to the other.
