I would like to add my assumption about why magma core is so hot I think it happens because the naturally occurring minerals here happened to ignite during an earthquake, the chem geysers are actually just underdeveloped volcanoes that didn't get ignited during mass earthquake, the explosion from chems igniting caused magma to start spilling out closer to cave floor and heating it. volatile plants happened to house these chemicals and use them to kill or wound future food or haulers for it's spores

hello I will be rebranding this channel after the Lore Series, I simply want to do more than just DRG content, expect a quick video when the rebrand takes place in an attempt to be transparent I'll post this comment on my new uploads, you can ask questions in the replies (these comments will be unpinned after the name change)

It's theorized that perhaps instead of multiple cores, Hoxxes may have simply had its core shifted at one point, perhaps by a meteor impact or similar. This would leave the Magma Core as a localized area from a surface map perspective.

When the biome lore series reaches it's finale with Azure Wield, will you make a video regarding the potential connections between the regions and their respective ecosystems? Like uncovering the truth whether if all large root formations stem from Hollow Bough or not? If a large water biome lost it's water suddenly and created both Glacial Strata, Salt Pits and Dense Biozone? Or maybe something about the glyphids lifecycle? Mr Historian, what is your next move? (Apart from the rebrand)

Really fighting back my urge to talk about how Magma chimneys can only form in water, on land they form smoke fields (like campi flegrei for instance), the actual chimney part, the tube, is formed due to water pressure and low temperatures of the ambient depth. This still could be the case if the chimneys were a remnant of an ocean, but it's highly unlikely since they are clearly still smoking, winch wouldn't happen since the thing they're exhuming isn't really smoke.

Hoxxes was impacted by a an asteroid long ago. This caused massive shifts in the planets mass. A chunk broke off, the core got shifted, plates came apart, oceans dried, the atmosphere weakened an let radiation through. This is said in the biome and hoxxes description in the miners manual

Volcanoes are known for bringing up nutrient-rich ash from deeper into the Earth, which is why areas surrounding volcanoes are notably lush from the ash, creating fertile soil. The ash pulled up from the vents might make the area full of nutrient-rich aerosolized particles that serve as the foundation for the region's ecosystem (and would probably be really unhealthy to breathe in.) Slight heat differentials between incredibly hot air and not-as-incredibly hot air might form gradients that can allow for the formation of wind, allowing for the propagation of this ash and any organism's spores. This ecosystem would likely be home to tons of extremophilic microbes feeding off this nutrient and creating energy through chemosynthesis. Creating an incredibly dynamic ecosystem that we cannot see with the naked ecosystem. The two main things that restrict the area from producing more complex indigenous life are the extreme heat and lack of accessible water, and I believe that much of the fauna we encounter might be transient, meaning that they only come to the region temporarily, possibly for unique food opportunities or purely for moving from one region to another. As for how this region could be so hot and volcanically active, I find it more likely that there is a giant hotspot below the region, which is a plume from the mantle that brings magma far higher into the planet's cr. This would explain the region's hot, active nature compared to other regions of similar depth.

People debate whether Hollow Bough or Magma Core is harder. I'd say it depends on your definition. Hollow Bough CAN have the roughest games of any biome, but it can ALSO have perfectly easy games, since its difficultly comes from cave generation. Magma Core never reaches those same lows, but it's _consistent_ in its difficulty.
