⁠@@Cholatemilk1pchal was being kinda harsh, but I understand why. The guy wanted advice for his very basic Nuzlocke on a vanilla game, and there’s tons of relevant advice for that on the internet. Jan specializes in extremely difficult Nuzlockes, and he’s in the middle of doing one that requires a lot of focus. I think he felt like the question was inconsiderate/thoughtless. It’d be like asking a brain surgeon in the middle of an operation, “what should I do about my scraped knee?”. “Read the room” in this case meant “you need to be more aware of the situation before you talk, because that was an inconsiderate question”

I think it’s actually slightly more complicated because Kecleon is a normal type with protean and dhelmise is using phantom force. So what chat is suggesting is to switch into kecleon on turn 1 of phantom force and then use fake out so that kecleon stays as a normal type and remains immune to phantom force when dhelmise then uses it. The line still doesn’t work for the reasons Jan says but it’s a smarter idea than it looks initially.

To The guy Nuzlocking platinum. I'm also doing a run in Platinum right now so your question hit close to home. For the elite four I would suggest just doing the champions level. Trying to go to the level cap on each member just feels excessive. They're already supposed to be difficult trainers why bother leveling for each one? But at the end of the day as many nuzlockers have said before it's your run it's your rules. Good luck

@@UnkillableMrStake sometimes it's funny, other times it feels a bit excessive. But that's kind of his shtick. I still prefer his stuff to Drxx and a couple other nuzlockers. I also think he has some of the best videos for gameplay (other make better completed run videos but Jan does do a solid job), I'm hooked on the daily videos even when there's a lot of theory crafting.

I’m loving the pchal daily edits, but I feel lately that the “previously” section had gone downhill a bit. I feel like it used to be used to show context on the current episode, like when Jan caught the encounter that popped off in this episode, when the Pokémon he would have used died, where he missed the encounter that would have been useful, where he talks about how hard/ easy this section will be, ect. For the lady’s few episodes it’s just been 20 second clips of the previous episode, so less useful overall. However, I’m still loving the edits!

The dragon darts animation killed me, lmao. I can't get over the fact that it a) repurposes the PC/party sprite of a Pokemon for a move animation (is there any precedent for that whatsoever?) and b) doesn't mirror the sprite so that it's facing the correct direction. Is that an engine limitation? I find it hard to believe you can't put a super simple script in to just mirror the sprite each time the move is used. Like, you can just load the sprite into memory, and reorder the columns in place, right??? Assuming a 32x32 sprite with an 8-bit color map, you only need to allocate 32 extra bytes in memory to store the column that's about to be moved, and that's assuming the GBA doesn't manipulate sprites on the hardware level (does it?). Since you're only doing this for one sprite, the number of columns is known at compile time, so you don't even need a byte for that! 😂 I'm not a low-level programmer by any stretch of the imagination, so please feel free to tell me why I'm an idiot.

The typical stream has like 2k-3k viewers. If he answers every chatters question he would never play the game. There are tons of better forums to ask that question, including the pchal discord. Did he need to call the chatter out? No, not really. But what Daily doesn't see is the hundreds of other questions (most of which can be answered by a quick Google search) that are asked in chat that he chooses to ignore.
