My brother in law was experiencing severe leg cramping at night for several years. He tried the magnesium taurate from Cardiovascular Research and experienced complete relief from the cramping after the first dose. It is possible many other forms could have been equally effective but at least his remission has lasted for a few weeks now. Anecdotal, I know, but when you experience a night-and-day effect like that, why mess with success?

Thank you for how thorough and safe you are with these videos. I think in an older video you mentioned possibly making one about bacopa (B. monnieri); do you think you still might? My mother started taking it a couple years ago after suffering multiple TBIs within the span of a few years, although at the same time as a number of other herbal supplements so while she's been doing a lot better since then overall it's unknown which is doing what if anything. I started taking it myself since a glance at some of the research around it seems promising (well and non-toxic at the very least👍) and I think it's provided some mental clarity that's helped a bit with some of the outer effects of my depression and anxiety, but it can be a bit hard to tell. Also any time you feel inspired to post more musical covers, please don't hesitate. We're here for it💜 🌺Thanks again🦋

I found this very interesting, I use Magnesium Glycinate as I have Fibromyalgia, since using it I’ve had less problems with brain fog and suffered less with anxiety. The only thing that I wondered is how much of it do you actually need?
@neurogalmd6 ай бұрын
Hi Darrell, thanks for sharing your experience! It's awesome to hear that Magnesium Glycinate has been beneficial for your symptoms. Magnesium glycinate is a top-notch form of magnesium. As for the daily dosage, based on my research, most folks aim for around 300-400mg per day. Have a great day!

Unfortunately, one can't say how much Taurine is inside an Magnesium Acetyl Taurate pill. Staff from Life Extension's Calm-Mag answered this: "The product has 705 mg of Acetyl-Taurate, since we can't confirm if the taurine dissociates from the acetyl group we can't say how much actual taurine is provided. This product should not be taken as a source of taurine".

There has to be some natural way for magnesium to get into the brain without relying on some specific supplement form. I would guess that the body has some transport protein doing this. Not that I have seen anything about that! My guess is that if we just get magnesium into our body, it itself handles distributing it to where it's needed. The supplement companies attempts to show brain functions of their forms of magnesium supplement isn't very convincing! We need more of both magnesium and taurate. But taurate in powder is much cheaper. So, I supplement with that and any good form of magnesium, such as magnesiumglycinate. The mice or rat helthspan studies supplemented with heafty doses of taurine. Much more than you get from magnesiumtaurate.

Thank you for sharing your insightful thoughts! Your points are well-taken, especially your query about the physiological process of magnesium entering the brain. It's a fascinating topic, and I appreciate your interest in understanding it further. You've inspired me to create a video to delve into how magnesium traverses the blood-brain barrier and the blood-cerebrospinal fluid barrier. :) This should shed light on your excellent question. Thanks again for sparking this discussion!

Thank you for the reference! I included this in my video mentioned above. The issue with this study was that it combined mag L threonate with phosphatidylserine so it is difficult to gauge the effects of Mag L threonate alone.
@neurogalmd6 ай бұрын
Hi Teri, thanks for sharing your insights! From what I know, magnesium threonate and magnesium L-threonate are indeed the same. I actually discussed the studies you referenced in my video :) The first study you mentioned showed slight improvements in executive function but no improvements in other categories, such as working memory, attention, episodic memory, anxiety, or insomnia. As for the second study, since it combined Mag L-threonate with phosphatidylserine, it's a bit tricky to attribute all the positive effects solely to Mag L-threonate. It's fascinating research nonetheless!
