Thanks for the demo! But, it hurts to watch your Highlander's paint as you place/remove those magnet mounts... Thanks for the sacrifice.

Love it. Today and experimenting with wiring directly to a cigarette lighter 12v power plug in. Carry the lights from one car to a truck, to a whatever ! Plug in the light adapter, you good. We'll see. Hope the wires and the adapter will carry the current and amps. Electricalfication ain't my forte. But I can say it. : )

@@ek9rhatch : My Portable Light Bar experiment is a resounding success! Used 16ga wires, 10 feet sections soldered from the light bar to a cigarette lighter adapter with a 10a fuse in it. Voila! I can see at night like you would not believe ! Got some magnetic mounting brackets off ebay. Placed the light bar on the roof. I don't ride around with it on the roof. I only put on at night when I am mountainous conditions that demand it. Cops will give you a ticket. I can't recite the exact letter of the laws applicable, likely few who can. No doubt such laws are different in each state. Well, let's just see what the Georgia law says. THE actual code section. Not what some guy says, not what some cop says, the actual text itself. I've been an attorney for 34 years. This is how to do it. O.C.G.A. 40-8-29 (2010) 40-8-29. Spotlights, foglights, and auxiliary lights permitted (a) Any motor vehicle may be equipped with not to exceed one spotlight, and no lighted spotlight shall be aimed and used upon any approaching vehicle. It shall be unlawful for any person except law enforcement officers and persons licensed under Chapter 38 of Title 43 to operate a spotlight from any moving vehicle on any highway or public roadway. (b) Any motor vehicle may be equipped with not to exceed two foglights mounted on the front at a height not less than 12 inches nor more than 30 inches above the level surface upon which the vehicle stands and so aimed that when the vehicle is not loaded none of the high intensity portion of the light to the left of the center of the vehicle shall at a distance of 25 feet ahead project higher than a level of four inches below the level of the center of the light from which it comes. (c) Any motor vehicle may be equipped with not to exceed one auxiliary passing light mounted on the front at a height not less than 24 inches nor more than 42 inches above the level surface upon which the vehicle stands, and every such auxiliary passing light shall meet the requirements and limitations set forth in this article. (d) Any motor vehicle may be equipped with not to exceed one auxiliary driving light mounted on the front at a height not less than 16 inches nor more than 42 inches above the level surface upon which the vehicle stands, and every such auxiliary driving light shall meet the requirements and limitations set forth in this article. You Georgia drivers - (If any reading this- some of us still don't really know to drive in Georgia. Make that, a lot of us) Well, you folks motorizing on Georgia roads take what this say into account. You are responsible. That 42 inches is a killer for a roof mounted system. That forces me to put my portable setup on the hood. The roof is far superior. Why was this law written this way? Only the Good Lord above knows for sure, but I'm sure there was some input by some all-knowing Senator or Representative in the Capitol when this was enacted into law. Enough of the jolly good souls voted it into law, and bang there it is, right? Supposedly someone or some group is trying to get a bill afloat in 2023 that will modify this lighting statute. As one of my client's said last week, "We'll see."

Sarah take your light bar or lights off the car when you go in to the mall or wherever, or leave your vehicle at the airport for a long time. That's the point of the magnet mounts to me. My hope is to see if they can be hooked up to a cigarette lighter adapter like your phone charger. Truly portable.

Those lights are new. Tow trucks been using them for years on towing other vehicles or flat beds. Those lights aren’t useful for off roads or driving use.
