He was counting the number of balls in each horizontal line from the top down. I think it’s kind of confusing as I find it more intuitive to look at shapes and layers but hey it works for him

For anyone making this the first time he makes 9 balls in a triangle to put on the pyramid, you have to put 12 balls and make it a triangle and put that on the pyramid :) Otherwise it wont fit

Your poles aren't facing the right way, they should interlock, not be parallel! It can take some time to figure out the polarity stuff but experienced builders can usually tell

Nice tutorial but that is actually a tetrahedron. A pyramids base has four sides while the tetrahedron base has three sides.
