In this video we see how to create electricity in a conductor by passing it through a magnetic field. We will also see how to calculate the emf that is created within the conductor. This video is the starting point for understanding how magnetism and electricity are related. It will help you with your studies for all levels of EAL and City & Guilds Electrical Training courses.

Perfectly clear and, as with previous videos, explained in a way which makes it easy to grasp and understand the concept.

Joe, this is just phenomenal mate. Seriously; your knowledge is just beyond the norm. Thank you! Can you please do a video on mass, weight and acceleration including levers and their calculations.? Much appreciated! Regards

great video on showing Velocity and Length. What is missing is the change in Flux, you say "now we can see that the change in Flux will increase the E", but you don't show it, so that's my missing here. Thanks

Great presentation Joe, quick question ... how about the other way around? lets say you move a magnet through a copper coil? would that work? if so how would you calculate the Electromotive force in that case? thanks and keep up the good work.

Thanks very much. It's the exact same principle and formula, as long as there's relative movement between the conductor and the magnetic field it will work. 👍

Joe, I really love your videos. Can you help me create a different magnetic field, one that can be used to protect the astronauts in space travel. Just like the one that protects our earth. This could solve all their problems going to mars.

Joe, Where did you source your desk magnet? I'm at York College and I need one for classroom demos. Grateful for your response.

*Question* 🙋 For the conductor, doesn't the diameter of the wire affects the emf ? Why only considering the length, and not the total volume or mass of the conductor ? PS: I'm a simple web-developper.
