Sultan Murad (Metin Akdülger) learns that Kösem Sultan wanted to kill him. Valide Kösem Sultan, who learned that Sinan Pasha was a traitor, realizes that he has been exposed. Helpless corners. For some reason I always felt that Ahmed was more in love with this first Kosem than with the second one. Don’t get me wrong, I love both actresses and I think Beren Saat is gorgeous, but I feel like Ahmed was more caring and affectionate towards Kosem when she was played by Anastasia Tsilimpiou. After they changed the actress, Ahmed seemed a bit colder to Kosem and he didn’t protect her as much as he did in the beginning of the series.

well, Anastasia was very helpless when she just got to the palace, had no real power or influence. By the time second actress comes, Anastasia becomes loved and admired by many for protecting the palace. Plus, she actually have birth to Sultan Ahmed's kids, which makes gives her a title and privileges. I think at that point her character did not need "protection' on petty cases like this one. If you watch Magnificent Century, you can tell Sultan does the same to Hurrem. I actually think he gets to see her being on her own and admiring that, instead of actually caring for her like a child.

Absolutely agree with you, I felt it too. Some people have responded to your comment suggesting Kosem became stronger and didn’t need caring. My response to that is yes she became stronger and didn’t need caring but then that doesn’t mean he becomes opposite of caring, I.e cold. Yet he appears cold, and disinterested in their scenes, almost distant. With kosem, He appears no where like the Ahmed who was so much in love with Anastasia. Part of the reason is there is no chemistry between new kosem and ahmed, so their scenes appear very fake, like there is no warmth or depth of emotions in their scenes together, as audience you don’t feel Ahmed and kosem are deeply connected to each other. Second big reason is actor playing Ahmed’s acting in romantic scenes with Anastasia was amazing, the way he looks at her is no where the same as the way he looks at kosem.

And for power and rivalry they paid with their lives for even the youngest children. Kosem although she became the most powerful woman in the Ottoman Empire, she had a more difficult life than Hurrem. Hurrem had the sultan by her side even when she died. Kosem was alone.

It's a peer thing. They cut her hair and face to shame her among them and to devalue her. To stay in the harem you have to be beautiful and with no imperfections or you become a servant or worst. They try to devalue her but their act backfire, instead the sultan came running to her. When she took her scarf off, she pretty much told them "Take That! You try to shame me, but I'm not ashamed. You try to devalue me, but I'm the most valuable among you".

Nope,Mahfiruze was never married to Ahmed. She disappears from Harem records soon after giving birth to Osman. We don't know exactly what happened (either died or sent to Old Palace). Kösem was the only wife of Ahmed
