The series had so many subplots, layering and depth. Probably the best TV show of it's genre ever done. Im sorry to say, they're trying to do a reboot, but they'll never catch lightening in a bottle again. RIP John Hillerman.
@coppertopv3652 жыл бұрын
Nope dont even like the new one. The reboot shouldve had a Thomas Magnum child as new Magnum, with cameos of Tom Selleck stopping by to see his kid or offer advice. You could've had a different person play a Higgins type role that maybe the new Magnum saved and offered to house him or her.. and have different freinds that were Veteran military an police. Maybe a former police helicopter pilot that does a similar job to TC and shows people around and does charters. A Rick like Character who maybe gambled too much and had helped save the life of an ice pick type Character that he had a gambling debt to, and had his debt forgiven and that ice pick character and rick become "Friends" that continue to help each other an pass around Some information.

R.I.P. to John Hillerman who played Jonathan Higgins a.k.a. Robin Masters. He and Tom Selleck had a great chemistry portraying their characters on this classic memorable 80's show. The same time frame as other shows like Cheers, Family Ties, St. Elsewhere, The Cosby Show, Night Court, Who's The Boss, MacGuyver, 227, The Hogan Family, Perfect Strangers, Full House, Married... With Children, and others as well.

In the episode "The Case of the Red-Faced Thespian", you can hear robin masters working on his typewriter, while in the room next to it, higgins is talking with magnum and a woman, so that is the proof that higgins was not robin masters, so myth busted.

Best ending for a series ever, maybe M.A.S.H being the other. Really respect how the writers gave respect and honor to Vietnam veterans and all other servicemen and how it affected their lives. The friendship of the four men how they sacrificed for one another, something you don't see in today's society. Every year in the Month of May this television show and the Indianapolis 500 are sentimental to me, because it honors those that gave and those that never made it home.

Loved how long running series in the 80s generally made it point to make the final episode special in the credits (now there are no REAL ending credits or intros) and there was that sense of finality and good bye that also seems to be gone now ...Miami Vice which would have its final season the next year in 89 would also do great final episode final credits set to the awesome sone "Tell Me" by the late Terry Kath ...very powerful stuff especially as it was basically good bye not just to show but a whole era tv ....re watching now in 2024 ..you really feel it

I think Belisarius Productions must have used the same composer for Quantum Leap Theme as used in this closing credits theme. They are very similar.

This show was phenomenal and authentic. In this final episode, John Ritter's widow, Amy Yasbeck, appeared.
