It's got to be demoralizing knowing no matter how long you think about it, the computer will instantly reply with the perfect move
@ChessUSee
@ChessUSee 3 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it is partially true, but when you go into the game knowing that you probably are going to lose, it releases you from any feeling that you need to perform well. Then there is no stress about the result of the game!

Nah, as even Magnus said, computers weren't really better than top human players at the time for Deep Blue. It took at least another decade before engines reached a league of their own. IBM made Deep Blue specifically to beat Kasparov and fed it lots of his games, but they didn't keep up their end of the deal and let him have time to study its games. Even so he could have beaten it, but the psychological aspects of it got to him, and they refused a rematch.

It's not so much the style of play or the moves of the chess computers that makes it so hard for humans to compete, but rather it is the insane calculation abilities of the computers. I would gather perhaps it's more difficult to learn from mistakes playing an a.i. as it will always be better and unforgiving. The fatigue would be harsher and you're not able to take any moment and grow from it because you can't see improvements against such an opponent. Playing someone on your level is a better experience to learn from, because it can be more forgiving. Even if you were to play someone far above you, as long as they intend to teach, you can learn a lot more from the loss.

I am an AI professor. I developed my first chess engine back in 2004 and now my student developed one for his MSc project. Chess engines today are only limited by the amount of quality games they get to see and the limited computational power provided to them. if the most powerful computers are given a high-level game (let's talk highest-rated computer vs another computer) and standard time, no human can even come close. And we have get to incorporate high-end machine learning into playing chess...we still use game trees. Now imagine having a quantum computing algorithm. It would be insane.

I think that you can write code to iterate through all oppoenent's possible moves (there are not as many as you'd think, especially in mid-late game) then iterate through all your possible moves after and so on and so forth, creating a branching map of possible moves, discarding the branches that are losing and selecting a branch that wins. There would be trillions of combinations, but honestly, computers are good at this. Its amazing how much data they can remember, especially since this data is quite simple compared to computing graphics engines (which I have done for colision detection or mesh deformation, where there are millions of vertices to move and keep track of)

It would be one thing if you beat the engine, but since it eventually gained the advantage and won, leads me to believe that you probably aren't a prodigy. However the opposite could also be true and I don't mean to discourage you from continuing chess. Even the top chess players in the world can't beat (at least easily) the level 25 chess.com computer either. It's probably not a good measuring stick for prodigy-ness. I'd suggest that you just play 10 minute games on chess.com until you have at least 100 games played or until your rating stabilizes, whichever comes last. @@thelolmaster1997 I agree Carlsen would probably win, but it would be much closer than you think. Morphy is outdated, but he is still incredibly strong. He was so far ahead of his competition that he would often give pawn odds or even knight odds to his opponents in tournaments just to make it more competitive. Today, grandmasters win games even against Stockfish with pawn odds, so it signals that Morphy could have a chance of beating Carlsen, given just how strong he was during his time. i feel like somewhere reaching and right after the 2 minute mark, it is for certain the computer calculations are based on not being able to come with anything actually optimal. the game specifically gets weirder after 2:43, either player can just start pushing any pawn they want, and then all of the sudden the computer just calculates weird piece movements. at 3:03 it seems like literally anything can be a good play from magnus's pov. and then after finally choosing the pawn positions they did, the computer just somehow calculates the movement at 3:49 of capturing bpawn with wpawn at e5 from f4, after magnus moves brook to a8 blocking wpawn at a7. what if magnus just decides before 3:03 after 3:00 to take the wpawn at c5 with bbishop from d4, sure he leaves the e5 bpawn to be taken by the wrook at e6, but what if thats not what happens, and even if it does, theres still a ton of options. he would be winning with pawns, has better positioning, and still has all pieces. where as instead, he ends up sacrificing a rook for bishop for a game of bishop rook vs 2 rooks. and most of all each player worrying about pawns still, not just forcing the computer to worry about the black pawn while magnus can take out, block, or not care about the white pawn in various ways. even in the very end, instead of resigning, he still has ways to force a bishop vs rook game.

Wow - Magnus had no chance. AI is fearless that’s dangerous. Now imagine such an AI which can predict moves in Life or Warfare against Humans. It‘s becoming like in the movie Terminator 😎

@@LucyMusic1999 any rule, that force the AI to think for days or can't be done by AI. - 4 player chess ( 1 vs 1 vs 1 vs 1 ) - add more ilegal moves / extra moves / new pieces (AI will need days to re-adjust to the rule) - rule that require a good social skill (cant be done by Ai) - rule that require creativity (cant be done by Ai)

This rule might sound silly, but here I go : You know AI can't understand human heart. So we change the queen into a real woman. You may only move your queen by asking her. If she decline, then you can't move your queen.

@@Eru- some different moves or pieces could be interesting but I feel ai could learn that too after some years of learning. However, it could be nice to do something like in poker when you need to read others nonverbal communication to win. In case of your suggested queen rule. I'm not sure how it would work.
