@@Sam-qi2gw Nah he's right, you're just biased cuz you're one of the chess-only people, the thing about sports, or esports that makes it accessible to wider audiences, to sweat lords and casuals together is that even people that play league of legends (or any other game) casually can understand the majority of what's going on, even in the cases of games like CS:GO where it's a lot more simple ,even a person that has NO idea about the game is able to understand to a certain extent. In the case of chess? If you are not half decent how are you supposed to get hyped over some move when you don't know what the fuck is going on exactly? You NEED to have an investment in chess to really appreciate what's going on, but that isn't the case for other general sports/esports, which again is just an explanation as to why chess is just not that popular with general audiences

As a beginning/intermediate level player here, this commentator explains things in a way that illuminates the subtleties of their play but also communicates the moves in a way that I can understand. Not just describing the moves and big theories, but saying things like "he will make the trade on his terms" or "he moves agreeing to the trade". Also he keeps up with the tempo of the game, when it gets exciting and tense he conveys that with the speed of his speech etc. Also just great nailbiting game.
