Thanks Antonio! My instinct was also to throw away the win with Rb4 (also failing to appreciate the need to deny lateral entry to the Black King) . . . but then, I haven't played a rated game in decades. So, Magnus and I can both experience the truth of Adolph Anderson's recognition after losing that "it is not possible to keep one's talent locked away in a box like a precious jewel."

WORST TOURNAMENT?! HAHAHAHA What about the 2019 WFRCC where Magnus Carlsen was revealed to be a TALENTLESS patzer for losing 13.5-2.5 and in particular 3x classical games in a row to that NOBODY 'w'esley 's'o who got only 1 win in the candidates a year prior. Even Nepo got a higher score than Magnus if you count semi-finals & finals : not just classical but even rapid. 9LX is human Vs human. Chess is computer & human Vs computer & human. No computer no Magnus? In classical 9LX - Wesley So has never lost a game, played the most games (14) and has the most wins (6) AND the most draws (8). - Hikaru has never won. - Magnus has the most losses. - Magnus (2wins, 2draws, 4losses) & Hikaru (0wins, 3draws, 1loss) tie with Vladimir Fedoseev & Peter Svidler for the lowest score. Wesley So beat Magnus human Vs human 3x classical in a row!

2nd: magnus cheats anish in round 7 superbet blitz --> 3:22:36 in 8gw7XDq87C4 #suggestion --- Agad, what's your opinion of FIDE's use of the terms 'slow rapid' & 'fast rapid' please? This has implications for Wesley So. Afaik: (0,10) is blitz. [10,60) is rapid. [60,120) is unrated classical. [120,infinity) is rated classical. So what's 'slow rapid'? Try to check out the maths here - they said both 32.5min & 60min are 'slow rapid'. Does this strike you as odd? I see only 2 possible definitions for slow & fast rapid. Def 1 - slow rapid means unrated classical [60,120) and fast rapid is rapid [10,60). --> this means Wesley So is not classical WFRCC but slow rapid WFRCC while Hikaru is fast rapid WFRCC. Def 2 - slow rapid & fast rapid cut up rapid [10,60) into resp [35,60) and [10,35). --> 2 issues here. 60min is not in either of these. Also, 32.5 is in [10,35). So neither 60 nor 32.5 are slow rapid. Lol. Wesley So is again classical WFRCC while Hikaru is (fast) rapid WFRCC. Def3 --> Since 15+2=17 is fast rapid, [10,X) is fast rapid & [X,120) is slow rapid for some 17 < X < 32.5. like say X is some arbitrary number like X=20 or X=30. Lol yeah right!! --- Other suggestions related to women in chess: A - Anna Cramling's dad beats Mikhail Tal. #suggestion B - Philippine women's chess #suggestion - WGM Janelle Frayna, the 1st and only Philippine WGM, upset Georgian GM (really GM not just WGM) Bela Khotenashvili at the 2022 world blitz. There's a 13-move UNDERPROMOTION puzzle here. [Variant "From Position"] [FEN "6k1/6b1/1p1P3p/6pP/3pPpP1/p2NqP2/6K1/5Q2"] 1. Qd1 a2 2. Qb3+ Kf8 3. d7 Qe2+ 4. Nf2 Ke7 5. Qd5 Kd8 6. Qe6 Bf6 7. Qe8+ Kc7 8. Qc8+ Kd6 9. e5+ Qxe5 10. d8=R+ Bxd8 11. Qxd8+ Kc6 12. Qa8+ Kb5 13. Qxa2 For some reason none of the Philippine channels except Kelvinllovejr even cover this game. LOL. But Janelle did cover the game where e drew against Nemo, so maybe Janelle will cover this game later on. --- 2016 WCC - This is relevant to the 2023 WCC. Please agad cover the other decisive game of the Sergey Karjakin vs Magnus Carlsen 2016 WCC #suggestion What happened is that Magnus lost to Sergey AS WHITE in Game 8 but then compensated for a white loss with A WHITE WIN in Game 10. This is what happened to Liren Ding & Nepo for Games 2 & 4 of 2023 WCC. Why doesn't a drawn match go to the player w/ more black wins (if any) s.t. Sergey Karjakin not Magnus Carlsen is 2016 WCC & Ian Nepomniachtchi not Liren Ding is 2023 WCC? This has happened BEFORE! 1 2022 Accentus Chess960 Vincent Keymer and Nodirbek Abdusattorov both finished with 5.0/7 and tied first. However, as Keymer won more games with Black, he won the tournament on tiebreak. 2 1980 - 1981 candidates tournament 'When the quarterfinal between Portisch and Spassky was tied after 14 games, Portisch was declared the winner because he had won more games with Black.' Actually maybe cover the only 2 decisive games here if not already? #suggestion 3 1983-1984 candidates tournament It wasn't repeated! The premise was the same! Hübner had more black wins than Smyslov before tiebreaks. After tiebreaks were tied, a ROULETTE determined Symslov won!! Actually maybe cover the only 2 decisive games here if not already? #suggestion --- . . . . . P.S. Please help get Wesley So on Lex Fridman's podcast. See xcdhgq xcdhgq xcdhgq xcdhgq

Does Magnus Carlsen have something against Americans? Or Jews? [BEGIN PREVIEW] I was told: (2022 Oct) There's also no doubt that Magnus generally dislikes americans- he said so on one of the Magnus effect podcast episodes. [END PREVIEW] Why does Magnus say good things about non-American prodigies like Alireza, Arjun, Andrey Esipenko, Nodirbek, Pragg, Vincent Keymer, et al but not for American prodigies like Hans? SAYNOTO2900 GOD BLESS AMERICA. (HUGE UPDATE: See zs4zpf how Magnus has something against Jews more than Americans.) Part A. Main Americans Part B. But consider the non-Americans of the next generation: Part C. Cheating Part D. Additional Part E. Updates Bobby Fischer would agree with me. Bobby Fischer would agree with me. Bobby Fischer would agree with me and would side with Hans and Wesley So over Magnus and Hikaru. I don't think Bobby would like the US gov today, but I think Bobby would like US players today esp Hans and Wesley So. I guess Magnus is the reverse: no political opinion re US gov but has something against American players, as Magnus admitted in podcast (see yev3a1 ). Part A. Main Americans A.1 - Hans Niemann (+ Hans' coach) is American. A.2 - Wesley So 'completely obliterated' (as agadmator said) Magnus Carlsen in the 9LX world championship 13.5-2.5 and 4-0. THIS INCLUDED 3X CLASSICAL GAMES IN A ROW. (Don't believe FIDE. 45+15=60 minutes in 2019 WFRCC is classical, not slow rapid. 25+7.5=32.5 minutes in 2022 WC is fast rapid, not slow rapid.) Magnus was 'deeply ashamed'. Later in the 2022 WC, FIDE lowered the time controls from classical to rapid to favour Magnus & Hikaru over Wesley So. 9LX is human Vs human. Chess is computer & human Vs computer & human. Wesley So beat Magnus human Vs human 3x classical in a row! A.3 - Bobby Fischer invented 9LX, which Magnus sucks at. Look at the low ratings Magnus gave of Bobby in that world champions ranked series. AMERICAN Larry Kaufman told me: Magnus doesn't generally play such great openings, he strives to get the game out of book as early as possible usually. I think the issue here is that his greatest strength is the endgame, but FRC games are much more likely to be decided in the middlegame as the players are on their own so early. That's probably why he doesn't shine as brightly in FRC as in Classical chess. A.4 - Actually, the above 3, Hans Niemann, Wesley So and Bobby Fischer are like Beth Harmon: Each is 'a prodigy, had a rather dark childhood and is American'. Their stories about overcoming their struggles in childhood are very inspirational. Magnus rated The Queen's Gambit 5 out of 6, only 2nd highest rating. Kinda like Magnus in classical 9LX: only the 2nd highest player. Part B. Consider next gen non-Americans: B.1 - Pragg: 'Magnus gives Pragg today round of APPLAUSE after his Stunning performance' (2022 Julius Baer Generation Cup) B.2 - Andrey Esipenko: Magnus 'didn't say anything when got beaten by Esipenko'. But wait is Andrey Jewish? B.3 - Alireza: Magnus wouldn't play 2023 WCC unless Alireza won candidates. Part C. Cheating C.1 - Magnus cheated against Jewish American Danya on lichess twice: David Howell 2021 & Aryan Tari 2022 C.2 - Magnus cheated against Jewish Russian Nepo in 2021 WCC with the knight touch move thing and then said 'do better' to gaslight the reporter C.3 - Magnus cheated against Alireza in 2019 blitz WCC. Yes Magnus AFTER punching clock talked in Norwegian on Alireza's turn. (Source: Ha6uVGB-Mtw ) Irrelevant except MVL's Jewish French while Alireza's Iranian & French. Just wanted to say. Lol. Part D. Additional: D.1 - Magnus described Hikaru Nakamura as merely 'decent'. (But now, Hikaru's a traitor to the US for siding with Magnus over Hans, just as Daniil Dubov is a traitor to Russia & Jews for siding with Magnus over Jewish Russians Nepo & Sergey and as Garry Kasparov is a traitor to Jews for cheating Jewish Judit Polgar.) D.2 - Eric Rosen beat Magnus in 9LX. D.3 - Magnus condescendingly asked Canadian-American ( dual citizen ) Andrea Botez how knights move. ( But now, Alex & Andrea are traitors to the US too. Unlike their dad who sides w/ Hans. ) D.4 - Magnus quit the 2022 Sinquefield Cup, an American tournament named after American Rex Sinquefield and hosted in St Louis Chess Club in the US. Myb Magnus thinks Chris Bird helped Hans cheat? D.5 - There was that thing with Maurice Ashley in 2017. D.6 - When Jewish American Fabiano Caruana switched from Italy to the US, Magnus said the US was 'buying nerds'. To this day, the only opponents that Magnus hasn't beaten in classical games in the finals of a FIDE WC are Americans Fabi & Wesley So. Maybe Magnus hates Rex for buying nerds because Fabi & Wesley So wouldn't have been as successful had they stayed in Italy / the Philippines. Part E. Updates: E.1 Look up 'Is Magnus against Americans?' ft Kostya Kavutskiy ID: IqtEnB1I1Ek E.2 I was told 'Magnus, like most Scandinavians, probably feels like America is a bit of a barbaric country.' - American NM John Chernoff aka zugaddict from lichess aka GargleBlaster from chessc*m told me in chat in 2022Sep. E.3 Americans won 5 tournaments in 9LX in a row from 2019Nov to 2022Oct, namely FIDE 2019, St Louis 2020, St Louis 2021, St Louis 2022 and FIDE 2022. Then there's a European in 2nd place. E.4 I was told by oprocyona in 2022 Oct: 'Many decisions in tournament chess are made to favor the player that brings in the most sponsorship dollars and views, which is undoubtedly Magnus. There's also no doubt that Magnus generally dislikes americans- he said so on one of the Magnus effect podcast episodes.' Here's the link I was given: Magnus Effect episode 2 - 20 Best Ways to Introduce Yourself As for tournament decisions, see 'Parallel between Hans and Fischer Random 2022?' Preparation and theory at the top level is evolving by the week. If he doesn't keep up wth his prep then against these guys, he will instantly be unable to win in classical because only new twists on variations will get them out of drawing lines. Talent doesnt even come into it at that point, as Bobby Fischer predicted. As soon as Magnus said he wasnt focusing on Classical anymore I knew his rating would fall back to 2700 something. Thats just the reality of modern chess. These players are all so good that even Magnus can't take the foot of the gas if he wants to be able to win. They play cutting edge chess.

@@davidcarr9772 The older generation thats still here, Fabiano, Hikaru, Wesley So, Ding Liren, Marmdeyarov, and so on is what he has to worry about Magnus lost like19 rating points in a single tournament. Not even Magnus can maintain being over 50 rating points ahead of the rest without alot of continuing study and hard work. He's not a god.

@@Ayatron34 You underestimate Magnus, Online is not the same but 1 in Blitz and Bullet ahead of Hikaru etc. Where he is having fun being the key ! For being on top for so long, it's hard to believe this hasn't happened more. Magnus can beat all the top players only playing at 80%, unless they're having a good day. He's got bored, you can see it in his face, body language and when he speaks. I seriously don't think the GOAT needs to worry about keeping up with theory etc or those at the top of the game. They have to play their best to beat Magnus, while he does not have to be at his best to win against them. To not win a game when number one online. That tells you that his heart is just not in 'Over The Board' for now. Magnus is young and the fire will return soon. Fun online tells you that nothing is wrong with his game. For now maybe, Hans 📿 Cheating 📿 Beads 📿 Nieman 📿 will take the chess world, with the full force of the VIBRATIONS Bzzzzz bzzzz.............

@@davidcarr9772 Classical's a different beast though. In fast time formats yes his superior talent takes control but with classical, the reason he wasnt able to win a single game here is that these guys are so up to date on their variations that you wont shake them going by talent. Magnus himself has said it, its harder and harder to find novel ideas and what worked before for him won't work now. Even Magnus can't win in classical playing by intuition, its just not realistic when everyone has stockfish 15 behind them and are prepping their asses off. I'm not saying he'll never win again, but with the attitude towards classical he has now, If he actually plays tournaments I see him losing his number one position by next year. If he doesnt then it'll take longer , but it'll happen.

Magnus may have concluded that he might be better going forward to do what Hikaru has done which is to play less competitive chess but concentrate on quality rather that quantity. Two years ago many thought Hikaru was all washed up! Some other players like Fabi and Wesley are playing so many tournaments that they risk burnout too. It is not easy to come up with fresh ideas and what you (or your seconds) do find might best be used sparingly! Magnus will reset and come back for sure but it may take time.
