It's nice having someone cover Warmachine lore, we need more of that. Personally, I prefer the pre-retcon backstory of Magnus, where he did accept Leto's pardon and resumed his regular cruelty. However, this time he had Stryker serving under him, and the boy-scout snicthed on him, causing him to be imprisoned for a bit and return serving under Stryker. His arm and leg were broken when Stryker pushed him aside to prevent him from being wholesale crushed by a falling warjack. His normal story resumes after Magnus is healed and returns to the field, only to backstab Stryker and desert at his first chance. Basically, Stryker was Magnus' archnemesis pre-retcon, and that added a nice dynamic between the two. I can see why they changed it though, both to cut this unnecessarily long chain of events and make it possible for him and Stryker to ever be on friendly terms.

I'll be honest I never knew the pre retcon story so thanks for sharing. Warmachine lore is so large and expansive it's got so many great characters and stories I hope to share with people

Asheth was named after Ash from the Evil Dead movies. Magnus is a great character and his mk.IV model is absolutely incredible.

You know, at some point, I might commission some artists to make some warmachine art like characters, weapons, warjacks, etc. The universe is just so interesting I'm even considering creating a new faction

I wish PP would do content like this! On a note (for improvement) - sometimes the gunfire and shouts in the background drowned you out. Other than that, this was fun. Your pacing is good, and the material is interesting. A few things didn't ring quite true, part of it was mentioned already with the torture and Leto's pardon, but I read some of this out of order, so I might have some events weirdly mapped in my head. Now do Stryker!

Thanks for the huge compliment :) PP did do some well-produced videos years ago but sadly stopped! I had debated turning down the gunshots, next time I will do so cheers for the feedback. I will start work on a Stryker video, we share the same last name which is cool.

Just came back from work and had this to enjoy. 😊 Love the video I recently started the Audiobook The blood of kings and this has filled in a few question i had about magnus. Though in the Audiobook it said magnus was tortured because he questioned vinter's strategy in taking Fort folg ( i think that's how you write it ?) Anyway, thanks for the video and have a great day.

I'm glad you enjoyed the video Alex! When it comes to the reason he was tortured I'd say I was generalising/ didn't go into the detail enough thank you for commenting about it. I really wanted to get Vinters paranoia across so perhaps I was leaning into that phrasing a lot. And any day I get a kind comment or have uploaded a video is a good day. I hope yours is good too!

Well done, those lore videos are great. It's brilliant to have a new warmachine channel! (Rather than jumping on already filled to the brim 40k bandwagon.) I found Warmachine thanks to disillusionment with GW predatory, anti-consumer policies and general fatigue with warhammer, and kind of regret not leaving warhammer sooner. Not to mention that warhammer has a terrible tendency to attract certain nasty community particularly drawn to its dystopian, authoritarian themes. Warmachine is such a welcome change. I really love pirate and Scottish themes. I like the models, and p3 paints are pure quality compared to citadel. Not to mention that warmachine lore is such a breath of fresh air, especially after decades of exposure to "there's only war, death (and teenage male power fantasy), every battle is epic... but also completely inconsequential" from GW.

Thank you, I have dabbled in 40k on the channel, I particularly love older models and their history (I need to bring that series of videos back!) But I agree with it becoming quite stale. In my opinion it's hit that cultural and business level of something like star wars, where once it was a series that could be anything and was made of passion it's now a lot of spreadsheets and profit charts in control, not to downplay some awesome artists at games workshop. Privateer press has had its own coloured history with terrible corporate decisions and fan controversies but the models and world just feel so much smaller (in a good way). I find it very appealing. I'm glad you and others enjoy these lore videos since I do love making them. I have plenty more to cook up!

@@coldconcept1 spot on. And huge thanks to try to get people into warmachine. (if you have any info, news or advice about warmachine community here in the uk, that would be grand) I got into warhammer when it was funny, wacky and unique. It's world was an insane caricature of an absurd world and system. It had some genuinely original stuff (football orcs, rockstar vampire space elves) Now it's a glorification of that absurd. Edgy power fantasy covered in some insecure tribalism. Because that's what sells. I only discovered warmachine about 2 years ago. I really like how warmachine can tell stories in a smaller more personal scale, that make them feel more more grounded and consequential and therfore more relatable and human. (since it doesn't focus predominantly on superhuman killing machines fighting other superhumans and/or demonic demigods in never-ending, galaxy-size conflict.) I really like how warmachine still has a bit of humor in both lore and model design. I like how there are stories that focus on underdogs, rebels and mercenaries rather than mostly hyper-loyal zealots and fanatics.

Great work! East and West are mixed up :) Julius was the son of Vinter, not Leto.
