It was pathetic though, Hikaru didnt utilise the bishop v pawn play he had in the end. White could have gone a pawn up by taking the black bishop on F3 and sinking the check, but he strategically let it go. THe knight became trapped and G5 and F4 were left open for Magnus to attack.

@@kevinexline5392 Magnus absolutely obliterated Ian. It was very rough for him as incredible of a player as Ian is. I think now that he gave up the title he will try to play for it again. It would be cool to see him face off against Ding, though I think it would have the same outcome as with Ian. Ding also made too many mistakes and had trouble with time management. Ding is one of my favorite players ever but there is no doubt in my mind that Ding would be suffering against Magnus. And I really think all of this speaks volumes to the level that Magnus is on. Just simply outclasses even grandmasters in the top 5 of the world.

Magnus using psycho trick... When he Arrives late, the opponent thinks at least I have few seconds advantage that means if I get into time scramble, I have a chance to win. Apperntly opponent puts himself in a lot of stress contemplating this. Magnus waits until the tension builds up and break his opponent in the end game. This trick works all the time 😂

I think the fact that he even took time to think on the move dxe6+, which is such a natural move, makes it look like he gets in his own head specifically against Magnus. This is a psychological game from Magnus. Getting late, makes the opponent impatient and getting them furious. When he arrives, opponent is already not thinking about the game. Chess games needs to have a proper rules. Example if the game starts 12:00, everyone should be there on time. If they’re late, 5min wait. After 5 minutes don’t start the clock, you have to disqualify the guy.
