On the car side yes, on the parts side no not really. You would be shocked on how much of that stuff is sitting in junk yards everywhere because the junker won't part with it for a fair price. Yes even the "rare" stuff that isn't as rare as you think because of yards like this hoarding it.

I used to go to this wrecker in '99 to early 2000's. It's in Watts near the projects and I always wanted to get in and outta there in a hurry. Bought mostly Porsche parts from Rudi until his son Bengi took over after he passed away. There was definitely cheaper parts sources for Porsche's than here, in the San Fernando Valley. They always wanted absolute top dollar for everything. I do regret not shelling out $90k to get one of the complete 300SL's though when Ben offered it to me for that. Back then a restored one didnt sell for a whole lot more than that, maybe $140-$150K so it seemed like an awfully high price at the time.

I have how these things go down before the mostly intact stuff goes for what you think it would be priced at. The rest go to the furnace for pennies on the dollar. No one cares to go through parts, and figure what goes to what, and put money and time into finding the right buyer which most likely does not exist. In the end it is always just easier in the end to just put it in a container move it to a furnace, and melt it down.

What is going to happen to the property??? I assume it will be sold as well. Car hoarders are the worst. He could of done something with all that stuff and pocketed the money. Instead he's dead and thankfully the stuff gets sold, and more importantly used or put back on the streets.
@Zero2Niero2 ай бұрын
@@paulwortman483 i think the narrative is incomplete because not relevant to the trove. This place was 10 times bigger in the 80s according to rumors. . Klein in his life time bought and sold 75 gull wings according to his son. Son said it was 4 times bigger. Nevertheless he sold the majority while alive in the 90s and no one cared for Porsche. So if no one cared for running Porsches you can imagine for wrecked ones.

I only hope that people can get parts for a reasonable price. Most of all this stuff is junk , yes it’s junk from prominent cars , but junk is junk. Each car from this yard needs a full restoration before it can be used or hidden in a private collection. The only people that make the most out of this are the auction houses. They will produce a mega hype in advance to get the potential buyers showing up at the auction and pay moon prices for the rusty metal. Wish them all best of luck. 😊😊😊
