Good Morning.. You Tube fans of April's Garage! Eye opening, better than a cup of java. Some pretty cool cars in this collection of junkyard specials. Pricey too. Gonna take some big bucks to bring some of those cars back - to Pebble Beach concourse level. It is only original once. And.. who wouldn't like to see April & Hoovie do a weekend in the California sun, in a top-down convertible , traveling the sun filled roads, wind whipping through April's hair... smile on her face, as Hoovie hits the gas, then... doing a review of what is special to them at Pebble Beach? Rudi and his one-time business partner, by the nane of Dieter (they were both from Germany), at one point, had about a thousand cars in various states. Their "parts runner" was a shortened, split-window VW pickup, with a 911 engine and gearbox! They were a couple of characters. Btw, the family did sell off a LOT of cars since Rudi passed away: a few years back, they had several Lamborghini Espadas on the L.A. Craigslist. He also had several alloy-bodied 300SL's.

Two comments. According to Wikipedia, the Mercedes 500K ran 160 Kph (100 mph), still crazy speed for that car. The article in RM says the owner, Rudolf Caracciola, drove a W125 to the 268 mph (447 kph) record. See the reply below.
@chele-chele23 күн бұрын
Rudolf Caracciola's record of 432.7 km/h (268.9 mph) over the flying kilometre on 28 January 1938, remained the fastest ever officially timed speed on a public road until broken on 5 November 2017 by Koenigsegg in an Agera RS driven by Niklas Lilja, achieving 447.2 km/h (277.9 mph) on a closed highway in Nevada.[2] It also was the fastest speed ever recorded in Germany until Rico Anthes bested it with a Top Fuel Dragster on the Hockenheimring drag strip.

In the early-mid 90's I lived on Coronado Island, CA. Across the alley was a guy I only remember as "Mr. Mercedes," he had 2 300 SL's (a gullwing and a 'vert) Sunday drivers & a couple late 80's daily drivers. When we lived there he had just finished building a new fireproof garage for the SL's at the insistence of his insurance company (single door, lift & the roadster on top, iirc). The cars themselves had no anti-theft measures, which my dad once asked him about; "these are rare enough that Mercedes knows where each one is and who owns it." (for sure butchered his quote but it's been a while & that's the gist). All that to say, you're probably right about the lack of remaining 'barn find' SL's. Fun fact: one of the SL's was used by Mercedes in an ad introducing the new-for-then r129.

I mean, the rule that the lavalier mic goes to the center of the collar of the shirt was invented for cases like it’s with Hoovie’s, but can be deviated from in extreme cases… The goal is to have the minimal distance between mouth and capsule. If showing cleavage is preferred (kudos btw), use some non-rattling necklace to attach it to or put the mic to the ear. (See Point Source Audio’s Embrace mic for reference)
