I met Ms. Jackson a number of times as a 12-14 year old on a television variety program in Los Angeles during the 1960ties. Unlike all other celebrities there she took the time to sit and talk to me as an adult. She very clearly expressed to me a future where young people could build a new world in which race was irrelevant. She was the most spiritual and finest person I have ever known, with no bitterness or anger. I have done well but only wish I could have lived my life more like her.

I love Mahalia and I love the conceit in this song, that God is watching the least of us but... who are you addressing when you say 'Oh come on y'all'? I don't see anyone disagreeing with you. And who is the 'we' you are talking about? I am constantly amazed at the things people on these threads take as given when addressing millions of other people with differing points of view. Like the idea that everyone is religious for a start - one can appreciate the amazing voice of Mahalia without being religious.
