I met Ms. Jackson a number of times as a 12-14 year old on a television variety program in Los Angeles during the 1960ties. Unlike all other celebrities there she took the time to sit and talk to me as an adult. She very clearly expressed to me a future where young people could build a new world in which race was irrelevant. She was the most spiritual and finest person I have ever known,with no bitterness or anger. I have done well but only wish I could have lived my life more like her.

This is when Gospel music was pure. This day its about fame and money. This great woman live 3 blocks down from where I lived in Chicago. She had a modest and beautiful red and white colored home with a rose garden in front of it. I remember her from my childhood of how she made me feel. She is greatly missed. Greatly missed.

This was my Grandmother's & Mother's favorite hymn. I sang at at Mother's funeral. Mom loved Mahalia Jackson. I didn't appreciate MJ when I was young, but am so glad Mom introduced me to MJ & this song. Beautiful!
