My mother Named me Mahalia because of this song and when she passed away January 25, 2020 I played this song for her and sang my heart out for her. Even though I can't sing I still cried and sang my her out just like she does. I had everyone in the funeral crying. God I miss her so much this is the closes I can get to her. R.I.P. Mahalia Jackson wasnt just a singer. She was a great musical evangelist of the 20th century. When she hits those notes full voice I feel like I a literally soaring! My father was a holiness preacher and we grew up in poverty. Her music was a constant presence in our home. He would listen to her sing and cry crocodile tears because of the purity and the force of her singing. I love her legacy.
