Mahalia Jackson sang with a chilling fire in her voice, in that she left her grateful listeners with chills through their bodies and a gloriously roaring fire in their souls for the love of God's music! I have no doubt that she continues to raise her most cherished voice in the heavens today and will do so for eternity! Oh to imagine what a time she is having there!

😊You’re in excellent company as Jesus wasn’t religious either! As a matter of fact the religious people of Jesus day hated him so much they thought they killed Him by hanging Him on a cross. But the joke was on them, instead He died for all of our sins including theirs and yours! Yes, He died in “our place” for ALL our sins. Would you receive His love, mercy and forgiveness by accepting Him as your Lord and Savior today? That way you can know your name is written in the Lambs book of life and know where you’ll spend eternity.

++Kristy Napier I'm not sure what you mean by "anointing",presumably superb. it certainly is. There was no-one could match her, and her performances of these bluesy gospel songs in particular are absolutely unrivalled.
@1940smusicals6 жыл бұрын
"anointing" is when you feel the presence of God. The difference between a singer worshiping God and merely performing. Am i right Kristy Napier ?
@MelancoliaI3 жыл бұрын
@@gynack 'Anointing' means filled with the Holy Ghost...bottom line. It means people aren't hearing a show or performance from you, but rather an unmistakable command to repent and follow Jesus. At least, that's how I understand it.
@gynack3 жыл бұрын
@@MelancoliaI Thanks. It's a powerful song powerfully delivered. I can understand why some Christians might feel that. There is a version in the film Elmer Gantry with great Gospel choral singing.

My mother also loved Ms Jackson and also told me stories of denied lodging and housing. A returning veteran of WWII and his family had problems finding housing, hard to believe in our own country. You traveled at your own risk back then when traveling while Black, especially in the South. I remember their stories, mostly of joy and family and a few bad ones. Thank you Ms Jackson for singing about strength, perseverance and love, especially love. We do not need to like anyone but according to God, we must love him and his creations both good and bad.

SHE WAS TRULY A MINISTER OF MUSIC BEFORE WE USED THE TERMINOLOGY IN THE CHURCH WORLD. WHEN YOU CAN REACH THE SOULS OF SAINTS AND SINNERS THEN YOU TRULY HAVE A MESSAGE IN YOUR SONG AND NOT JUST ENTERTAINING THOSE THAT HEAR YOUR VOICE. GOSPEL SONGS ARE SUPPOSE TO SEARCH THE SOUL OF THE PEOPLE.

@rhondagodwin12654 жыл бұрын
@@bigrobtheactor WHY NOT? The observation made in the comment shows phenomenal insight. I personally know how phenomenal, being the offspring of a mean, stupid atheist and a true saint. Nevertheless, ONLY MAHALIA JACKSON COULD BRING THAT CRUEL PARENT BACK TO WHO THEY WERE BEFORE THIS DIRTY WORLD TARNISHED THEM UP and so....Both my parents revelled in Godliness when she sang. This scenario was played out all over the world. Hence the old saying: Music soothes the savage beast. JUST NOT ANY MUSIC BUT THE MUSIC CREATOR PASSED TO US THROUGH MAHALIA!

Just the thought of the biblical description of what God led the Children of Israel into as they came into Canaan makes me wanna shout!
