@CarWale Nope. 1. The comparison itself is wrong since the suzuki can seat only 4 and it is a sub 4M car. So the comparison should be with the Thar 3 door. 1. a) Once we do that, the price difference (of 6 lakhs) goes out the window 1. b) The advantages of having a more compact car are also gone. Including Jimny being "better" on technical tracks. 1. c) Thar 3 door is available in Petrol 4 Wheel drive. Something which is shown here as an advantage for the jimny by comparing it with the wrong car. 2. Wireless apple carplay will be available in the Thar Roxx. Its licensing is not cheap and Mahindra choose to get it at the last minute. So it will be available by the time customer deliveries start. I honestly expected better from Vikram. He was one of the top car reviewers for me and I always used to look for his reviews. But lost a lot of (brownie) points as it were, with this wrong and misleading comparison.

It immediately feels like this is as honest as it gets. Just like Vikrant, i'm also a fan of compact quirky vehicles but the jimny is neither quirky enough nor small enough for my taste. I'd have bought the jimny with 3-door (-50k), RWD (-1L), turbo manual (-50k after tax savings and material cost and adding turbo cost). So, 9.75 lakh (jimny with discounts) - 2 lakh, i'd have happily bought the 3-door jimny at 7.75 lakh ex-showroom --- from CSD at 6.xx lakh ex-sh. As is, the jimny feels like a toy but trying hard to come across as a serious car. it would be nice to have a toy not shying away from its identity.

@@CarWale Although the direct comparison between the two would be injustice to both in and themselves; if someone has a dilemma as to what for why, then this review could help! There’s always a temptation factor for newly launched vehicles and especially if the budget doesn’t become a constraint, then it’s worth listening to why one should choose what! However, going through a lot of reviews like and unlike this one, there’s a clear differentiator that comes up clearly with the use case; a big size (and show as well 😉) feature rich elephant or a compact and practical (no nonsense 🤓) deer, is something that it boils down onto! Why not compare Jimny with Thar 3-D?? Well, we already know who wins 😊 All in all, good points mentioned!

​@@Vishnu-B Agree with you in terms of comparison that it should be thar 3 door va jimny. But I have compared, driven both the cars and thar 3 door has many issues. Very bumpy ride, not usable easily by family because of bad access to back seats, rear windows don't open and feels claustrophobic, no reverse camera, rear wipers, outdated screen and very less economy in petrol. Only positive for me in thar was powerful engine. Since I barely drive beyond 100kmph, thar did not feel a wise decision. Especially with the july discount on jimny.

I have a Thar and a Honda city. While the city is a superior car in all respects I find myself reaching for the thar every time. I can’t really articulate why ..it has bad handling, tiring for long drives, not at all practical in terms of space, very thirsty and so on. I think maybe the Thar just feeds your ego like no other.

People who are at a budget and need a serious off roader for daily commute, like in the hills will always go for a Jimny. Upgrade the tyres and its a beast. For people like us, who live in the plains and go off roading for pleasure will go for the Thar family. So, there is a difference in lifestyle and need. No one is better than the other, they just suit different lifestyles and we have to respect that. Both the Thar and the Jimny are great products. The Thar has the Dna of the Willy's Jeep while the Jimny has the dna of the Gypsy/Samurai.

Thar roxx top varient is priced too close to scorpio n. It's base 4wd varient might still be more expensive than jimny top varient. So it only suits someone who really don't want a Scorpio-N but still want space for five. I personally find it better to get a jimny as a second vehicle along with an ertiga or get only the Scorpio-N 4wd.

Excellent review 👏 both of the cars are good in their niche. Jimny needs to work on releasing turbo engine and Thar needs to work on its suspension... Recently bought Jimny Alpha with 3 lakhs discount as secondary car to my Nexon and feeling happy 😃 😊 Most value for money offroader with fantastic suspension....❤ Earlier Jimny was overpriced 😊 and now Thar Roxx RWD seems overpriced 😊

Diesel is not a trump card anymore; the BS7 norms will ensure a dead-end for Diesel cars. A Petrol Thar which may offer only 7-8 kms per litre in the city traffic, will burn a big hole in your pocket. A higher upfront cost and bigger fuel bill month on month makes Thar inherently prohibitive. The Jimny is clearly a better value for money proposition, with the only big let down being it's poor safety test rating

Having two car is way more practical then one. what if there is an emergency at home and you need a car as soon as possible but someone is out for work and can only reach home after one hour at the earliest,what if one got into an accident and the car needs a heavy repairing which needs to be kept in the garage shop for weeks So many thing's need to be considered too before selling everything and regretting your decision later in life

I feel that the comparison with the Thar Roxx is valid because both of these vehicles have 5 doors and can be used as primary family vehicles. New buyers of the 3-door Thar won't care about practicality. Potential buyers of the Jimny might consider the Thar Roxx because of practicality. I agree that the two vehicles in the video are very different and will mostly cater to different needs but cross-shopping is bound to happen here. So many people have referred to the Roxx as the final nail in the Jimny's coffin.

No one is going to call you a "chhaapri" when in a Jimny but I will not take chances with the monstrosity called Thar. The image is so. You will be branded for life as a bully on road ! Just my two cents after experiencing the menace of Thar owners on Indian roads. The vanity of intimidation of wannabe gangsters in Thars is obnoxious. In this case, yes. O ce they introduced the RWD 3-door Thar, less people wanted the 4x4. It will be more so with the Roxx, as is seen in the difference in sales of the Scorpio N 2wd vs 4x4.

Are you kidding man? They are literally the one company who are serious about 4WDs. They currently have 4 different cars (Thar, XUV700, Scorpio-N, Thar Roxx) with 4WD. And this excluding other 4 WD cars that were discontinued recently like Bolero 4x4, Alturas 4x4 etc. And they have multiple options for cars with RWD (which is the next best thing after 4WD). Which other company in India can say the same? And coming to this video, jimny is the only 4WD suzuki in India.

Side aside Jeep wrangler 3 door will be a probable challengers in the next future. Anyhow, My Jimny is still Smiling Globally. It's all about choices when keeping in mind over economizing ones Needs. Conclusion: Thar roxx must be Compared with Jeep Wrangler as per its Persona. European are so happy with the Indian version of Jimny.

Jimmy shud get more powerful engine ! It will be a far better 4x4 with its petrol powered engine especially in Himalayas.However for long distance touring I will prefer Roxx with its more power and better creature comforts.May modify the same with after market suspension options.These will surely crop up in days to come.

Jimny with a bigger, more powerful engine is needed, but I doubt it will come. And you are right about aftermarket suspension for the Toxx. Though I haven't sampled any on the 3-door Thar, so I am not sure if these improve on-road comfort.
