Not exactly that he wasted his life, but that he believed his life was worthless because he couldn't live up to people's expectations. The eldest child, especially a boy, is expected to be the greatest one in order to be the head of the family and set an example for his younger siblings, but Mahiro's younger sibling is just incomparable. Even if his family didn't pressure him themselves, other people would certainly judge him for just being average while his little sister is a shining star because that's how the societies of many countries, including Japan, see things.

They put in way more detail and shading than the original manga has, which has a more cute, plush feeling most of the time) so it gives a bit of a different vibe sometimes. They also made his hips narrower in the anime for some reason even though they made several characters' breasts larger (especially Kaede's and the home ec. teacher's, being at least three or four times the size they are in the manga, maybe more).

Didn't take the socks off, so it's fine. But to be serious for sec, he (or she?) seems to like both now, so more power to him/her. Also when you are biologically a girl, "gay" becomes a grey zone anyways. Ok, I don't know if anyone will ever see this but I have to speak of something because It's legit haunting me. So basically I've been a transgender since what feels like the beginning of time and I have always been feeling terribly unhappy about my life, everything is going the wrong way and I'm currently going through a depression. But this anime made me feel just more miserable because of how much I envy the protag, I would give everything and even my own soul for this, just getting a second chance at life without every single things going wrong, without being so...unlucky like I was...Of course I'm aware that it is really silly and childish to feel such strong feelings for something fictionnal but it legit feels like I'm being stabbed in the heart by a billion knives each time I come across anything related to that kind of animes. It's really painful because I genuinely would love watching that kind of animes if it wasn't so terribly painful like this. It just makes me think of how unfair and how rude everything has been to me since what again feels like forever, it makes me genuinely want to cry until I physically can't no more, it makes my suicidal thoughts stronger and stronger. So I'm daring to ask, is there anything I can do to finally get rid of this mental barrier if I can call it that way ? I just can't stand all of these thoughts running through my mind all the time and am really desperate. Thank you.

I'll bite because this comment's on an anime video. What on earth could possibly be so horribly wrong about being in a wrong gender that brings you to this point? Like I get it, I'm straight but really enjoyed this anime for the honest conversation it brings to light regarding gender roles and to a certain extent how to open up to people/society in a different lens. But - as as respectfully as possible - what's stopping you from making the changes to your life that you are assuming would be made in a new gender, in your current one? To use another anime-related example, I'd like to draw attention to ReLIFE. I watched it at a time where I severely needed to change my lifestyle and attitude towards society and my place in it. Sure I can't take a magic pill and go back to the beginning of my high school days, but I sure as hell can and did change things about myself since then.

I'm under medics since a failed attempt back during last year. I really dont want to start making a resume of my life but please understand that there's more than that to it. The people who did "studies" on that neglected to mention that men are more often found in high-paying jobs (such as jobs that get hazard pay for dangerous work) than women are because of the types of work men and women tend towards.
