Hooray, I thought it was false Solomon’s seal. I’m pretty sure I saw some growing wild in North Carolina. Very graceful plant.🌿

Yes, the common name is false solomon's seal. Lucky you to have it growing near.

Yes, the North Carolina wildflowers are a treat. They have some of the same varieties that I remember from West Virginia. It finally struck me that the Appalachians are named after the Alps. ⛰ Imagine that!

Beautiful ! Never seen it or heard of it. The whitish little flowers look like snow flakes. Thank you for sharing.

What if you want to get rid of it? A long stretch is in my backyard after no attention for 30 plus years. I am digging there are lots of connected root systems. It's the right time to put down grass seed. Do I have to get all the roots out? Or will they die out if can't get them all as the grass comes and becomes lawn?

Sorry, I really can't advise about eradication. I would think that this is not a very persistent plant but I've never tried to remove it.

Your beautiful clump is all leaning the same direction. How is that a accomplished? Did you have to plant them a certain way?
@GardeningatDouentza
@GardeningatDouentza Жыл бұрын
Well, there is a mock orange bush directly behind it, preventing it leaning that way.

Does it expand as aggressively as Lily of the Valley?
@GardeningatDouentza
@GardeningatDouentza 3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely not. Smilacina is a clump forming plant. Lily of the valley is invasive.

That is a very nice perennial! Especially the fragrance make it worthwhile! I saw you put handkerchief plant photo in insta, do you have one in your garden?

Good morning, Mary. I don't yet have the handkerchief tree in my garden but I was gifted a baby one this spring. Looking forward to it growing.
