Love this! I just got a baby maidenhair vine plant named sienna. I’ve been looking for tips and tricks to best take care of her. Thanks for your note on the humidity and direct sunlight. I have her in a bay window that receives a lot of sun, so I will move her to a different location. Thank you! ☺️🌱

It is so hard to find info on the muehlenbeckias, so was glad to discover your channel! I found a variegated one on eBay that's really pretty too, but my very favorite is the triloba variety, it has leaves that are fiddle shaped! Found it at a local nursery here I Michigan!

I moved to finland this year. I got a muehlenbeckia from a plant store after asking them for a plant that can survive a finnish winter. They told me it only needs 4 hours of sun a day and it will be happy and I was told to keep the soil moist. I have been watering it every 3 days and have it on my kitchen counter where it gets some sun and indoor lighting but not too much. In the winter finland has only 5 hours of daylight a day and often its cloudy daylight, but the plant has survived so far and even grown a lot.

@@PlantsandLucia this plant did not work as a terrarium plant for me. I tried to create one with materials from the nature around me and unfortunately a beautiful piece of a old dead root started to mould so I'm not sure if that is why the plant died or if it just was the environment in the glass container. Another plant in there is doing fine though 🌱

Thank you so much, Lucia!! I purchased one of these (I believe what I have is the same - it says Angel Vine on my tag) and it is in the shape of a small topiary. She was doing really well then I looked at her one day and she was all dried out!! So I'm hoping I can tend her back to thriving. I'm really happy I found you!!

Hii! Thank you so much for your comment 🥰! And it is my absolute pleasure making these videos for you guys ♥️♥️ Yes, in my experience, the maidenhair vine is a pretty particular plant, and it also would dry out with us sometimes! So I started checking the soil more often to give her the right amount of water and I have placed her with other tropical plants and a humidifier now in the winter, since this one enjoys humidity ☺️! It's been a journey trying to understand her but once you find the way, there is a great feeling that comes with it!♥️ Let me know how it goes with you, and if you have any questions ♥️, sending lots of positive energy to you and your Muehlenbeckia Complexa (haha I love that it has the 'complexa' in the name, as it tends to be complex 😅)

Hope that yours recovered. Just thought I'd let others know that the angel vine can actually make a recovery after drying out! Mine dried out and was quite small, I figured it wouldn't survive. The roots were not in bad shape, and after pruning away all the death stems, new stems started blooming after about a month after I watered regularly to kept the soil moist.

@@PlantsandLucia hello, same thing happened with my plant. Should i cut the dry parts? There are green leaves trying to grow but there seems to be no place for them because it is very tangled. Thank you for the great video btw i will try these tips 🌺

I had the same problem! Now I understand to treat the same as ferns she is growing well. Lots of water , a growlight and mist regularly. I use a special misting spray that has fertiliser in it which all my ferns love…

Excellent video about this fascinating plant and your way of describing is very informational. My Complexa plant is in the garden as the seller told us we can put them in the garden. You mentioned the plant won't be happy with temperatures below 15 and here in Austria we certainly do have lower temperatures. Is there maybe another type of Muehleenbeckia which fits the outdoor?

I bought my maidenhair plant on March 20th, it’s April 26th now and it’s about quadrupled in size. It’s been thriving sitting on my south facing kitchen window, watered about 2 or 3 times a week but not too much water. I repotted it exactly 1 month after I got it (since roots were growing through the bottom quite a bit) it did not take any time off from shock of repotting, I still saw new growth the next day. I did find out that it is not happy when left without water for more than a week, you will lose many leaves but it can possibly be revived with a good dose and to be left alone. I wish I could post a picture on here but this plant is growing beyond what I could imagine in this short amount of time!

I have a very large wire vine plant in my garden for about 3 yrs. I'd like to divide it and put some near the base of my roses to stop weed growth. Have you ever tried to do this, any suggestions? I'm going to get some cuttings as well, but just curious if it's worth the attempt to get a few splits off there with established roots.

I have had this plant outside in the all year round in s pot around a tree hanging over the edge. The ice storm killed the tree but the plant lived & is still growing like crazy. Been in the pot for over 3 years. Do I have a super plant????

I have one outside with about three hours of direct noon sunlight, I water spray every other day. The leaves on the vine are more tolerate than the maidenhair fern

Is it normal??

I got my maiden hair vein on Saturday. The soil was moist and on Tuesday the soil was dry, therefore I watered. On Wednesday she is completely bald. I’m not sure what happened or if this is normal. I had her in a medium light setting. I’m not sure what to do to revive this plant. Any suggestions?
@benshaw38914 жыл бұрын
Try keeping her soil slightly moist at all times (not too moist). Don’t let it dry out in between waterings like with other plants. I find this is the case with some vining/ trailing species. They don’t have big chunky roots like other types of plants, so they can get shocked easily.

The information given is incorrect. This plant species comes from NZ. It can handle low temperatures. It is used as an house plant but should be grown outside..
