To close that Blue Switchblade, pull back on the left side of the guard. It should pivot back and lift the lock off the blade. Nice work on reshaping that fish knife blade!

it's a pre 1954 the guard at the scale is square not rounded you can't twist the guard. pre 1954 where all hand made that's one of them, after 1954 they went in to mass production with the twist release in Germany and France..

Always interesting to see what old knives you pull out of flea markets or the mailbox. That blue stiletto is abolster lock, just push the left(usually) bolster down to lift up the blade lock. Saves your fingers. Much older ones don't have that feature are called pick locks.

I have another comment, that blue switchblade knife has a bloster lock release i believe? You should be able to twist that quilion and the lock should let go. Also you did a fantastic job reprofilling that fishing knife, can hardly tell it didn't come like that!

That blue switchblade was made in Taiwan for the German market. It’s a swivel bolster meaning you close it by placing your finger on the right guard of the front top bolster and pressing in to make the bolster swivel up to the left lifting the lock tab off that little nub on the blade allowing it close. I have one of those Mexican clasp lock switchblades. Mine has a leather strap attached to the clasp. It’s possible to open it one handed but it’s kind of hard. Easier to just use two hands.

Hi Kevin, here a short note from Germany. You stimulated me to finally start collecting Pocket Knives: since i was a child i am intriged by pocketknives, starting with the first 1 i bought at a sale when i was 11, now 42 years ago. Since then the pocket knives had my special interest, the way they look, all the different types. I especially love the single blades and the ones with up to max 3 blades. And i just LOVE those fishing knives, to bad its really hard to find them here. Now i started collecting, small scale collction, but still. Thanks so much for your videos!!!
