Mail Call - Fishing Hand Tied Craw Jigs From A Subscriber

I received some craw jigs that were hand tied and sent to me by a fan on my channel. They look great to me but what will the smallmouth think?

Although I drifted the McKenzie river and the Rogue river, McKenzie river, the Deshute and a few others here in the north west... river drift is a river drift.. @@captainggttv3243 , I learned the Hard way about talking about a certain place being so Damn good. A few years later, the fishing pressure became so heavy, we never, ever caught any 12 pound Bass there again. The new fishermen disrespected the rules, using live bait, keeping the Trophy catches, instead of putting them back. Now all you catch there is a bunch of 12 inch Bass. What a shame. What you have there is close to the kind of Fishing I experienced in Canada, back in the 1960's. Keep it TOP SECRET dude.

Yeah there’s enough people finding these spots I fish without me posting the locations, I can’t imagine the crowds that would show up every weekend if I did. It’s funny, I used to see maybe one or two vehicles all summer long at any given spot I launch from on this river. Now I post a video on Saturday and if I show the spot where I launch from it’s guaranteed there’s at least a half dozen vehicles parked there the next day. At least everyone I’ve run into on the water has been pretty cool and seem like they’re following the rules but we hear it far too often about people poaching and I’ve seen the amount of trash that gets left behind at popular fishing spots. This river is also dangerous in certain spots if you’re not a strong experienced paddler and I’ve seen it happen before, someone does something dumb and gets hurt and they make an entire river off limits with the threat of a huge fine until the current slows down. Too much to lose and really nothing to gain by letting everyone know where I am. I’m already considering not showing launch spots or anything too recognizable and pulling up to an island or a spot on the bank upstream a ways if I want to shoot some kind of video segment, similar to what I did at the start on this one.

With what you have up there, Secrecy is of the upmost requirement. Knowing what I now know, I would never, ever disclose the location of my favorite Fishing holes. This latest video almost goes to far in giving hints, on where to begin looking for your Trade Secrets. the times is now, to protect your Sacred Places, before they may be Destroyed Forever. Here's the greatest thing for us in MN: compared to other parts of the country, there's minimal bass fishing pressure. I know which river he's fishing, and I'd guess he practically has it to himself. Most people around here are fishing for Walleye instead.

Matt, your fishery is beautiful and has great fish but you do a hell of a job catching nice fish. Boat control, casting, fish handling all executed in a smooth manner. Capturing video at the same time is not easy either. My hats off to you brother. I’ve spent most of my fishing life floating rivers and creeks chasing smallmouth in Pennsylvania. I live for smallmouth fishing. Best place I’ve ever fished is the St. Lawrence River. You should make it up there at least once. Great videos!

The thing about fishing it's like hunting - you do your research, you do your scouting and you try the lake or area out. I didn’t have any luck at the pond. I’ve heard mixed things on whether it has fish in it or not. I ended up launching the kayak on the lake across the road from it and caught a few 2lbers on the frog but nothing spectacular. If the weather cooperates tomorrow I might head out to a little lake where I’ve caught some big bass on the frog in the past but never shot video because I have to drag the kayak through the woods to access it. I’ll be bringing the hat cam if I make it out there!
