Great video. I work with powercon a lot in the Chicago entertainment industry.

Actually the PowerCON is slowly being replace by the PowerCON True1 connectors. Which have an higher IP rating and can be disconnected under load, which with PowerCON technically you should not do. For both... the power rating is 16A. I work near daily with them, and the PowerCON True 1 work better. You can also plug a male in to a female cable and extent your cable that way. But PowerCON connectors are great connectors and there is no risk of plugging them in the wrong way. Like with Shuko cables. Anyway, nice haul again!

If I happen to get any cheap Chinese lights, I assume they'll come with the cheaper/older version of the connector.

@@pileofstuff Definitely. And also the newer equipment you rent buy use are still mostly PowerCON. It will take years before it will be mostly PowerCON True1. Like with USB-C slowly becoming the standard but it is already years old..

One thing to note about the powercon connectors you got: They are they older style that is NOT rated for live connection/disconnection. Pins short out as the connection is made/unmade than can cause various problems. The newer standard True1, solves this issue and can be connected live.

0:19 it would be funny if that somehow made it onto their products 😂 My spouse works for their other company whose name now adorns the stadium. I'm not a fan of beer, but they often give their employees beer and things like bottle openers, clothing, etc. I'm glad at least one of us has a stable career lol.

Does the Blue plug go into the white socket or is it keyed different

From what I can see on video, they are keyed differently, as they should be.

They are keyed differently to make it impossible to plug them in wrong. Or at least impossible without a few whacks from a really big hammer.

FYI Those connectors are called SPEEKON.

Speakon are a different connector for a different purpose. These are Powercon, and even though they look similar and were invented by the same company, they are specifically for AC power only. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PowerCon en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speakon_connector
