Love the idea of Steph, Dame, Klay etc in the 3 point contest. Super happy for Mac having watched him for years, wish him further success. As far as the All Star Game.. I got into arguments with friends complaining about the game sucking. We cannot expect them to go out there and try to compete like it's the Finals. These guys spent months playing hard in the regular season they deserve the time to take it easy and recharge before the push into the Playoffs. The draft, as a fan, was enjoyable. I like the way they did it but it could be moved along a liiitle bit faster. But I enjoyed it very much and even watched it again the next day on KZbin lol. AND Draymond apologized for giving more info on that first paycheck question, no need to apologize that was some good insight and interesting info I personally didn't know.

This is crazy.... Millionaires want more money to play hard. Don't ever compare this generation of players to any other generations! This is why you have the problems you do. Guys are getting paid to sit out games and now they want more money to play hard in the Allstar Game. Michael and Kobe and a lot of players from previous generations would play hard in a preseason game! Simple remedy to load management: when you want to rest a player let them play the first quarter and sit the rest of the game. No one would complain about that..... You rich folks are messing up the game.

@diegobromfield Жыл бұрын
7:00 So Draymond thinks more money is the answer? Dude a guy who is making say 50 mil a year or 20 mil a year, you'd have to offer too much to get those guys to compete. The superstars are already rich. If I'm making dozens of millions per year already, offering me the possibility of getting an extra 2 or 3 mil to play hard in a game is not enough. You're gonna have to push about 7, 8, 9 or 10 mil which is too much money. Cash alone is not the answer and the pathetic display in the allstar game is not even close to some of these guys training sessions or summer games so the whole injury thing is no excuse. The answer is to let the all star game close the season. Play that after the post season and you'll have guys wanting to win hardware before the season is officially over. Simple.

lol the all stars on the roster probably make a minimum $25,000,000 per year, and Dray is talking financial motivators to play... Also, the logic to give players more money to compete hard, but if they compete hard, their chances of injury increases, which is the logic Dray has for why they don't play hard (and if they do get injured, fans will complain that it should be cancelled, the players will miss games etc...). Not a very well thought out argument
@learningisgrowing Жыл бұрын
Follow up - if the primary issue for the lack of competitiveness due to injury/risk management, then can the whole event. Also, can the play in tournament too as 82 games is more than enough games to determine who makes the cut and who doesn't. Less games. Less chances of injuries. Same amount of money earned per year

I agree, with a couple of your points Draymond. Mac McClung going Mac 10 on that dunk contest. Aside from not missing that dunk, that verticality is amazing too! Case in point, that dunk on that 3 person stack could have gone wrong, but Mac’s leaping ability got through that. The All Star Game though… it did lack defense. It was a bonafide shootout. The entertaining thing about it was the one on one between Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum. Lebron got hurt blocking a shot. In summation, I understand why they won’t play that hard as it is just an All Star game, but I kinda expect they’d still play competitively as I’d always compare it to the All Star games during the 90s where MJ and co. is always competitive.

I mean Dray just rattled off the same reasons everyone says with why they don't compete, yet no one ever addresses how many injuries happened when they played much more competitive before it became a 48 minute layup line. They keep acting like we don't have anything to compare it to. For example the 1998 All-Start game with 2 of the most competitive players in NBA history, MJ and Kobe, setting the tone. They competed at a significantly higher caliber.. but how many players got injured in that game? Compared this year, no competition and LeBron gets "injured". I'm just saying, make this "if someone gets injured" stance make sense. 🤷🏾♂ There's a lot of irrationality around injuries all together in this era. Players are resting, taking DNPs more than ever, yet they stay injured. Y'all really need to go back to the drawing board on this cuz the math ain't mathing. lol

Your tickets are pending until 30 min before the game. If you see someone is sitting out for like personal, rest, or didn't even travel then go ahead and get your money back! Make that rule. The big thing is NBA players never lose or have no consequences that's why they all talk like this.

@@rickyrobinson6653 That's a good idea. Though sometimes they don't seem to announce injuries or benching until game time despite the rule that they have to announce by 5 pm the day before a game.
