I became a fan of Steph because I randomly saw a sports video early in his career where the commentators said he wouldn’t be more than a spot-up shooter, he couldn’t get in the lane and a whole bunch of other stuff. I wanted to see him succeed. Then I watched him add something to his game every year to become the extraordinary player he’s become.

That's not the case though so literally means nothing. Every great player has some gravity that attracts defenders that allows other players to thrive. That's usually what seperates great players from good players. Stephen Curry just came in with a whole new way to implement that and that was with his three point shot but the simple concept of using your gravity for your teammates advantage isn't anything new.

It's impossible to compare eras. I am starting to really appreciate the evolution of basketball. Basketball is basically positionless now so to compare with other eras is challenging. Steph is unique and the entire game has changed as a result of his unstoppable jump shot. I look at guys that dominate as being equals amongst the greats because each Era has its standout players.

Steph is the most Lethal off-ball NBA player ever in NBA history. He gets assists without even touching the ball. He can just stand 30 feet out and open up a play. When he makes a cut, many times it leads to a layup, or open outside shot. This is before we talk about how he is number 1 in 3PM and 3PT% of the top 50 nba players in 3PM. He shoots the most accurate while shooting the highest volume. That is impossibly good.

Both Magic & Steph made their teammates significantly better but in very different ways. Magic had speed, size, and uncanny vision, yet still playing point guard very traditionally as the primary ball-handler and facilitator. While Steph has otherworldly handles, his main threat is off-ball, where he uses his insane stamina to run the defense ragged with the constant threat of his 3s and his supreme finishing at the rim. I'm not even sure if you can call Steph a point guard; he's more like an extremely mobile shooting guard. This is where I do think Steph is a more valuable player than Magic: not because Steph is a better point guard than Magic, but because Steph's skill set is so unique and so versatile, especially off-ball, that you can play Steph in any lineup, even with another point guard or shooting guards, and the offense immediately gets supercharged. In a game where there's only one ball, I think the future of the NBA will be led by players with "gravity" who can bend defenses off-ball like Steph.

There's a couple of guys here and there. I think LaMelo and Garland are very good playmakers with the mind of getting others involved before getting a bucket. Steph is a pg and I know this is not a popular opinion but let me explain if a pg is supposed to run the offense optimally the steph does that he does not past the ball too the wide open dray or a wide open Poole and some of the other players from 3 is he shoots a better percentage contested then a good chunk of the team does wide open so it still is running the offense at optimal efficiency which is what the pg is supposed to do the only difference is we never seen a player make contested shots like he does from off the dribble ..a lot of people don't understand this

@@jasongordan I've seen Magic play on film, plenty of times. I grew up in the Jordan era, but I'm a Kobe fan. I'm old enough to know how great Magic was. But I'd still take Steph. In fact, "if" you've saw him play in person, it'd make you more biased. We can actually study both players because of film, and not base things off of media narrative. Taking Magic is not a universal truth. Steph is a better shooter and scorer. Magic is a better passer. Magic is a better rebounder, but he's also taller. Defense is a wash for both. Magic was NOT a great defender, and neither is Steph. I'm taking Steph all day. The only way I'd take Magic is if he's on a team with a bunch of shooters.

@Jason Gordan Lol that's the argument you're making? Wow. Magic never had to fly anywhere, lol he came into the league playing with a Top 5 player of all time. Come on now, that's as weak of an argument as they come. And besides...you can't compare eras as apples to apples. It doesn't work. That's media controlling your perspective. Magic has never been in Stephs position and vice versa. Magic never didn't win without a Top 5 player. It's just a horrible argument. Both players are proven, and great. Someone isn't just automatically better because they won more rings, or have more MVPS. I have real opinions, not media manipulated opinions based on media controlled narratives. Someone can win a DPOY in one era and still be a worse defender than someone who's never won un another era. How? Because it depends on the season and the era and the competition. You gotta think for yourself and stop perpetuating media's "truth". Just because they say something a lot, doesn't make it truth.

Imagine needing 7 games to beat kd, westbrook in okc. Imagine going 7 with Lebron, kyrie, etc and it coming down to a shot. Your center is hurt and dreymond losses a game………. Why nobody want to admit, they was just exhausted. They didn’t need kd. Had they not went for 73 they would’ve had the energy to beat Lebron. Kd wasn’t necessary

The problem is that to the untrained eye (all of us) we don’t see how this “undersized” team makes it past these athletic monsters because we don’t understand how high IQ basketball really works. There’s a reason why Kerr’s system is so good and why only few could actually master it. Look at all the guys that have been traded (not due to money constraints). None of them were high level IQ players that could adopt the system. Sure they are phenomenal athletes and that got them to the show. But to play as small as they do and for how long they have dominated with all these analysts not understanding why is apparent. Minds like IGGY’s is rare and warriors have a a collection of thinking players. This is the future of basketball.
