As a korean this is what Seoul is all about. There are no BIGBANG, SNSD and 2NE1 in Seoul but the people who are nodding in class, the people who are screaming at each other and the people who are feeling tired of heavy workloads. Most foregin visitors feels Seoul is not as interesting as they expected. They go back somewhat dissatisfied after their visit. That's because they were all expecting Seoul as a country which is full of kpop energy and splendid sceneries. But that is NOT Seoul AT ALL. It has passed only 70years since such a disastrous war in seoul. The war destructed the whole country and left nothing for Koreans. But Seoul went through from nothing to the place with cutting edge technologies and fashion. Seoul is not 'the country of snsd' but the country which bears 'bitter, sweet soul'.

Just wanted to let everyone know that this film was edited by Park Chan-wook, who edited down to 1 hour from 11000 film submissions on Seoul. Maybe someone with more info can chime in. This movie feels like "Man with a Movie Camera" by Vertov, though they vary in style.

For the TLDR crowd: Fantastic. If you're only a couple of minutes in and starting to scan the comments, don't. Watch it all, its worth it. Or, if you're interested in a bit more: While primarily created as a publicity piece for Seoul, this really does stand on its own two feet as a film and deserves a wider audience. The maintenance of pace, occasional juxtaposition and dynamic editorial flow keeps you interested throughout: even though it's made from internet-friendly clips, it never feels like it's in danger of degenerating into a simple highlights reel. Yes, it's skewed by what videos were provided for it, and I'm sure a far more gritty/tourist-friendly/k-poptastic (delete as applicable) piece could've been created, but as something to pique interest in the city, it works. As a two-weeks-every-few-years visitor, I'm certainly no expert, but I'd say it *feels* right.

정말 서울 도시 구조는 정말 더럽고 후진국 스럽게 생겼음. 도대체 서울이 머가 멋지다는거지?? 못생긴 아파트들 뿐임 ㅉㅉㅉㅉㅉㅉㅉ 반면에 일본 싱가포르 홍콩 수도를 가보면 도시들이 구조가 잘되어 있고 그 나라만의 색이 있음.. 근데 한국 수도 하면 뭔가 떠 오르는게 없음 뭔가 한국 도시 생김새는 동남아 처럼 생겼음.. 진짜 아파트 좀 그 따구로 짓지마라;;;;; 지을러면 디자인을 이쁘게 해서 짓던가 세계적으로 이뿐 도시는 한국은 절때 포함될수 없음
