I am here in Africa lying on my bed, never been to the subcontinent, listening to these ustads and cannot hold back the tears. Sometimes it feels as if Nizamuddin and Khusro are present, a tribute to the artists,. My great grandfather came here in the late nineteenth century and I am forever grateful to him for emphasizing the use of our mother tongue, the Urdu language, which allows a window to a mesmerizing unique spiritual culture which otherwise we would never have tasted, to our great loss.
