yes its an extended windsurfing mast with a mast base a the bottom. You can switch the laser sail battens with pieces of stiff rope for a better rolling experience, it dosnt seem to affect the sail much. Cheers

Great work. I was thinking about how to build one of these myself for my sailing canoe. Can I please ask... What stops the mast from simply turning inside the sail sleeve? Have you tried sailing with no boom? (Then you could notionally reef by partially furling the sail).

Thanks. The sail is attached to the mast at the top and bottom (just above the boom). The sail goes further back then the stern of the boat so I have no choice but to use a boom. Partial furling could work but with my sail, it really affects its shape in a negative way. Cheers

How does the laser sail feel on this boat? Not too over powered? I am going to build one this winter and would love your insight. You have done a fantastic job!!!

The laser sail works well up to 15 knots of wind, any stronger and it does start to feel overpowered, but i can handle it up to 20-25 knots. It important to sheet out when heading down or else the boat dosn't want to go downwind. best of luck with your build!

Great job, what are you using for the mast, and light weight boom?

I'm using a fiberglass windsurfing mast, and half an old carbon windsufing mast for the boom.
