Great video! Once you have set sail and entered several new countries, can you do a video on cruising with a dog on board? Things like, how do you manage potty time on a longer passage. What countries can’t you visit with Hank and why? What are the added things you must do on check in with Hank? What do you do with Hank when you want to go site seeing or out for a romantic dinner in Dubrovnik? I bet there are a lot of people like me wondering the same thing. As I sit here watching my Vizsla Ramsay snoozing across from me, I can’t imagine leaving him behind when we embark on our circumnavigation goal. D

Sorry to hear about your camera!! I hope it wasn't an expensive one. BTW, if you had retrieved the camera there was a good possibility that the SD card would still work. Sandisk actually promote their SD cards as waterproof. I saw a demo of this at a Photo shop a couple of years ago (pre-Covid) where they had a lot of SD cards in a goldfish bowl, pulled them out, stuck them in a camera, took a couple of photos and sure enough... I really enjoy your videos and I would support you in Patreon but I'm retired, on a pension which doesn't go very far. Stay safe and healthy!!

Nice job Dom, that will be so much easier than the self tacking staysail. If you want a recommendation for a sail maker Dick Batt of Batt sails in Bosham is great or a bit closer to you is Ben Green of Shore Sails at Swanwick Marina. I am very envious of you guys already out and about in the West. Slow start to my season but hope to be out soon. Andy UK

👍 BTW, SV Cadoha is still a cutter. Two head sail does not make her a cutter. It's the location of the mast in relation to the length of the sailing vessel.

I may have a spare furling staysail on my Warrior 40. I guess the rig dimensions are the same for the 38? I will check if I still have the sail next time I go to the boat and if it is any use to you can have it if you like? Richard
@CadohaAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Wow, that would be epic! Even if it's not I imagine it's only going to be a tad smaller for the 38, which I imagine a sail maker could easily adjust? 😁😁⛵️🙏🏻

Hey a bit different! But my main reservation is that huge dog which will be a huge restriction on you4 possible sailing experiences. He is clearly much to big to live on a “small”" sail boat. It would be immensely unkind to confine him to such a small area - and indeed I would be surprised if you subjected him to more than a day or 2 away from shore - even within uk waters only Wider travel would be much too stressful Do think care fully

Anti-seize grease is your friend with stainless steel, once threads seize you cant get stuff undone and you can't tighten it up. If it happens to the turnbuckles on your standing rigging, it'll be time for the bottom lip to wobble uncontrollably. I feel your pain deep-sixing the camera.
@CadohaAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Appreciate the tip there! Sounds like a good shout!
@nortonmolly3 жыл бұрын
You are so correct. I used to work for a Rig builder. When stainless steel threads starts to gall up, it’s almost impossible to save. Cut it with a grinder to remove. Prevention is the only solution with anti seize compound. Polishing the thread also helps as it removes fine stainless burrs from the machining process.
@SteifWood3 жыл бұрын
Just do it again - the time lapses, fitting, details, hoisting, etc - because what you have done (making a DIY furling) is unprecedented and never shown on YT before (I think).
@CadohaAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Yes, in hindsight that wouldn’t be a bad shout although I lost the camera overboard after we’d left Southampton and we were anchored out, so taking the inner forestay back off didn’t seem like an easy thing to do again whilst rolling around on the hook 😕😕
@SteifWood3 жыл бұрын
@@CadohaAdventures Maybe you can reenact it all next time you are docked or on the hard? And ofc, I'm sorry for your camera. That is still a "thing" but what's recorded with it is sometimes invaluable. I know how devastating it can be, even decades later. In the mid 80's my backpack was stolen on the airport upon return from a 4 months tour to East Africa. Not only did I lose my camera gear, but the worst was the 15-20 rolls of film, both the professional ones for my study in Tanzania and from everything else I experienced, including a buffalo hunt in a tiny Land Rover and a Magnum 44, the many wonderful ppl I met, and a wicked vacation trip to Mauritius.
