We are currently working our way through your videos. We are part timer RVers and live less than 10 minutes from Damariscotta. Your Maine videos are very well done. You even gave us life long Mainers a few ideas of things to do.

Thanks so much, we're definitely big fans of Maine! If you get the chance, check out Maine Booch in Damariscotta before they close for good at the end of the month! It's one of our favorites from our last trip around the state. 👍 -Howard

Hello Newstates! Just wanted to thank you for this video. We just back from a 12 day New England / Canada road trip and we have got to say that Damariscotta was one of our highlights. We loved the Damariscotta River Cruise - Oyster and Wine pairing. My wife, Terry, was picking out our "next house" on the river (LOL). The oysters rocked. The wine rocked. Olga rocked. Just a great time. Thank You!!!! Keith & Terry Saby

Thanks, Donna! Damariscotta is one of our favorites, though earlier this year the hard kombucha bar closed for good. 😟 We can't recommend the area enough for a great time with less crowds! 👍 -Howard

Wonderful, enticing exploration of Damariscotta. It was a thrill to see Waldoboro-based Lakin's Gorges Cheese and Allison Lakin part of the happy finds. It IS great cheese - and isn't Lakin fun!

Love all of your videos but the ones in Maine are definitely at the top of our favorites list, we would love to live there someday! I lived in Alaska 4 years in the early 90's so I love those too, got my puppy Jack from Chena Hot Springs area. I also did some work for The Prospector Outfitters in Valdez so I drove the Richardson Highway twice a year and loved it so much!

Oh my gracious - you are enticing me to slow down in Maine! I found your videos searching for Acadia info, but I love all of your coastal Maine stops.I'm going to have to cut our stops in New Hampshire to have more time in Maine. We love to try local food, see beautiful sites. Can't wait to visit all of these places in July :-).

Pemaquid Point is my favorite Maine lighthouse. The rock formations and tide pools make for an incredible experience. Can't wait to go back. I hope you make it to Schoodic Point (on the quiet side of Acadia) and Baxter State Park.

And you can be sure that Scout was given a sample of Lakin's Gorges Cheese that would sit well. Did you hear? There is an upcoming fundraiser on Sunday, October 1, 2023, for hay - the very first step in the creation of Lakin's Gorges Cheese - the best grasses for the cows - at Back Street Bistro in Wiscasset. It should be a lot of fun. I have read that all the rain deep-sixed the hay crop. High quality hay for the winter is vital. The cows are in pasture during grass season, with rotational grazing practices from day to day. (You can see I pay attention. I also love Lakin's Gorges Cheeses).

If your in Maine you have to check out Acadia National Park. So worth it. I was born and raised in Southern Maine. Maybe a hike up to Mount Katahdin. It the end of the Appalachian Trail.

Pemaquid was my favorite lighthouse. We sat on a boulder and watched the waves crash right there. And there's a cafe next door where we ate. And there's a building near the parking lot where there was an art exhibit. And I think you can see Monhegan island from the lighthouse. It's about 10 miles off shore. We took a ferry from Port Clyde and spent the night. Artists were everywhere painting. We loved Maine.

I went to that lighthouse! It was foggy that day though, so didn't get the nice views. Those stairs are something. Bummed I didn't know about Cupacity or the kombucha place when I was in the area.

There is a October pumpkin and regatta festival every year and we got to go and see the 200 to 2,000 pounds painted and on display. It was a bunch of fun. The farmers market in Portland was really cool place to shop with all the variety.

Wonderful video and so educational. Interesting how different this oyster farming technique is from that in New Zealand (watched Gone with the Wynns) I haven’t spent much time in the NE part of our beautiful country as we live in San Diego but hope to get their some time in the future.

Another great one, you guys! Although I NEVER acquired a taste for oysters (🥴🤢🤮), I am amazed with the size of the ones you had, and just how fresh seafood can be. Unfortunately, my fav seafood is lobster, so I don’t really get it often. Wonder why?🤔. But, I have “herd” there’s some pretty good lobster up there in Maine! 😉. As always, thanks so much for being such great tour guides and videographers, and please stay safe and happy!

How far ahead of time do you book your sites? I've followed about 3 of you videos now, and tried to book at the campgrounds you've been at and NOTHING has been available. It worries me because we are hoping to go on the road full time, but aren't finding affordable campgrounds. What are you suggestions for booking and finding good campgrounds?
@NewstateNomads
@NewstateNomads 2 ай бұрын
Which campgrounds specifically were you trying to get reservations?Definitely booking as far in advance as you can is advisable, but also be open to alternative campgrounds and options! For example, National Park campgrounds can be very difficult to secure reservations, so we use third party services that monitor for cancellations while also researching alternatives in the area. Boondocker's Welcome is a great membership where private owners host you on their property, frequently with electric and water available for a very small fee. Happy to answer other questions you might have, and thanks for watching! 👍🏻 - Howard
