Greetings, dear cyclist! Today we received a bike in our bike workshop with a problem with clicking and hard to turn cranks when pedaling. The problem was found in the bottom bracket of the bike.In this video we will show you how to clean and lubricate the bottom bracket and the frame of the bike so that you can still ride on the old bottom bracket. Where did you get the bright green grease, it looks like the genuine stuff that comes on new BBs. I bought some Shimano branded green grease but it was darker coloured and much thinner.

Why not change the bottom bracket? tat type is really cheap. at least take the seals of the bearings clean and regrease or all that work is for nothing. those bearing still sounded rough after cleaned up. If a customer comes to me with a BB as rough as tat one after that repair they would be asked if they want it changed.

That's right, I'd replace that part with a new one. But the customer wanted a cheap repair. and the bike carriage will still be around for a couple thousand kilometers.

Your labour must be really cheap, those style of bottom brackets are like €15, surely it's quicker to remove the old, clean and grease the threads then put the new one in, rather than washing all the parts?

even if we put a new part on the bike, we still had to clean the frame and threads!!!!

I ruined a nice square taper cartridge bearing Chorus bottom bracket, by putting the bike away for the winter., without checking that it's last rainy ride didn't get water inside the frame.

I don’t think you have fixed anything: the bearings are still the same, at least one is probably still bad. The dirt you removed has no importance in the mechanism. Pull and remove the bad bearing (s), or change the whole bracket, or at the minimum repack the old bearings. I repacked one bearing on mine and it gave it another couple years of life, ultimately I had to change that bearing. Less than $10 per bearing.

We didn't have any bearings to replace. We decided to leave them as they were. But there was still an effect. Because of dirt in the thread, there is a grinding noise.
